modok, as a carb sensitive individual (as youve stated) are you getting excited with this new indigo-3g that Biotest is producing? ability for a FFB to consume carbs once again! i know im getting excited haha. just interested in your thoughts on nutrient partitioning supplements if you have any experiences?
as a FFB myself im experimenting with a product called glycobol, adding more carbs into my diet, even though i know i lean out best on an anabolic type diet.
Modok, I like your certainty! You’re an inspiration in your ability to look past all the nonsense out there lol! I played around with a Glucose Dispoal Agent once, specifically Glycobol. I dind’t really notice much, but that’s probably b/c I was already fairly lean and a variety of other factors. Anyway, what’s the point of taking these types of supps? Is it real or broscience that you can pop a pill and all of a sudden double your carb intake without fat gain?

No, I am not going to take anything like that. I know what macro ratio my body does best on, and that doesn’t need to change. I still can eat whatever I want…its just on the weekend.
well i tried a couple weeks of “carb ramping” using the so called glucose disposal agent i ordered. got fat. i guess FFBs will always be FFBs no matter the supplementation.

back to the AD for me!
My point was, these days even if I COULD eat high carb foods with no consequences to my body composition I would not due to what I have learned about the biochemical consequences of high carbohydrate diets and long term health.

i have a feeling youre referring to gary taubes “good calories, bad calories”? i saw a movie based off its info but havent read the book yet. its really interesting stuff.
only reason i feel i “NEED” carbs is because of all the mainstream information and articles out there that say glycogen is the muscles #1 source of energy and stuff. although i know the body can make ATP from triglycerides and fatty acids as well. its more psychological than anything, “i neeeed carbs to sustain my workout intensity.” i have a feeling all the information out there was written for hard gainers and not FFBS though ha
I have the same problem that I will strain my pec minor on any variation of barbell bench press. I’ve switched to dumbells for my main chest exercise but progression can be a bit tougher. Do you have any rehab/prehab tips for healthy pec minor?
Ha, to ask what is probably my 20th question on this thread, MODOK:
I asked this in the BBB III thread, but I was hoping that I might get your views since you’ve done BBB both 6x and 4x/week:
Did you find that the 4x/week was too similar to TBT? When I look at the template, the low volume on biceps and triceps is sort of disconcerting. I’m thinking that if I transition to the 4x/week, I’ll probably start with Ramp2 since I’m used to training 6x/week and have already done the 6x/week Ramp2.
The main question, though, is just whether because 4x/week is more like TBT than 5/3/1 as far as the split goes, that consideration led you to have second guesses about the 4x/week BBB?
Did you do anything to the 4x template when you ran it?
Thanks for replying to my PM. Sorry I did get back to you sooner. Good advice, I’ll follow it for sure. Academic scholarships, and a loving grandma makes the steaks possible
I dropped probably 3-4lbs of weight here on the 9th day of the transition, However my waist measurement is standing still. So I need to find what works for me, like your telling everyone. How did you discover this for yourself? If you had to give a definite way for someone to find the nutrient ratio they work best on, how would you tell them to go about it? Do you know of any exercises that help build the Brachioradialis?
During your major bulk, 170 - sub 300 what was the highest bodyfat you allowed yourself to reach? For someone wanting to build a body similar to yours what level of fat gain do you see as acceptable during such a bulk?
Also I wanted to ask what your opinion on these massive bulks vs slow muscle gain? Again for someone who wanted to look like you at the end(natural) what is the best approach?

There is no telling what my bodyfat was. My soul focus was weight gain and strength. I wanted to go on a prolonged bulk (2 years) and then come back down. When the two years was finished, I was sitting just shy of 300 lbs. Thats just where I ended up. Then I came back down over about 9 months. So all totaled I held the weight for about 3 years.
Massive bulks like that do more, in my opinion, than just put on weight. They set your physiological “set point” of normal weight higher permanently. They strengthn tendons, thicken bones, and set you up to be a bigger person for the rest of your life. Of course, thats just what I believe from my experience, but I believe a genetically typical, average guy has to gain a ton of weight at one point in his career if he wants to carry a significantly larger amount of muscle naturally all the time.
do you think the massive bulks also set your body up to store more fat? for instance say you cut down to 225 from the 300 lb peak weight. You have pushed your set point to 245 though. Do you think the bbody would “try” to gain 20 lbs of fat (ans some muscle) to get to where it thinks it should be?

You did this bulk while on the AD right? From the sugar thread you said this “I literally busted out of my skin on the diet after several years of trying to make meaningful progress the conventional way. I gained 75 or 80 lbs of very clean weight over two years ( I still wore 34 inch waist pants).” When I did my first bulk I used a lot of carbs throughout the week and felt I gained too much fat in comparison to the amount of muscle I gained would the AD be good so as to not have most of the weight gained be fat.
So you just mainly let your lifts be the judge on how much food to consume? Since you were so focused on getting as strong as possible did you just ignore the mirror. Seems like a small sacrifice (in terms of looks) to be able to acheive what you have. That is saying if you got put on some extra fat.
so what does a typical day of eating look like you for you MODOK? I’ve been through all of your threads and I don’t think it’s been posted… stuff like how many meals, any protein shakes, types of veggies/meat, fruit, etc. thanks.
Modok, you’re my hero! Aside from being an awesome BBer, great pharmacist and helpful dude, do you succeed in other endeavors? Do you cook and clean? If so, you could be the illegitimate offspring of Arnold…?!
I got the opportunity to meet Dr. Clay, Shelby Starnes, and Daryl Gee today and felt like the redheaded cousin due to my lack of size. Color me convinced in terms of NEEDING to gain!

modok, do you eat AD style all year round now? or just for cutting purposes? besides your initial bulks when you were younger. curious about this one.
Yes, year round on my version of the AD. 50% or so fat, 25-30% protein, 10-15% carbs and a 12-18 hour carb load on saturdays.
10-15% carbs on the AD?? well this opens up a whole new ballgame! haha. im guessing you center those carbs around your workout period. any preferred source? liquid, gluten-free, non sugar, fruity pebbles and cocopuffs like il cazzo (LOL), etc…
