More importantly can you share recipes of your meals lol … One can only go so far with meat and veggies with limited culinary skills :<

What, doesn’t she want to cook for you?
Mine likes doing just that and coming up with new seasonings or whatever… But then again, I would never expect her to cook my meals all the time… The less it feels like repetitive, never-ending work, the more fun it becomes in my case, and she is the same in that regard.

I wish she could cook! But then again, I’m way too much of a control freak with my food (like most of us on here). I’d probably end up telling her to go watch tv anyway. ![]()

Well, I don’t eat Paleo-like, and am generally fairly flexible when it comes to my meals nowadays as long as I
… So it’s easier… She likes to experiment in the kitchen and we’re very similar in so many ways that it just works out. Of course the bulk of our intake is still stuff that’s quick to prepare or has been prepared the weekend prior… Which just means that the “special” meals taste even better.
We don’t have a TV anymore, either… ![]()

Modok,
One more question; I know you like training bodyparts more often, with arms and lats being trained multiple times throughout the week do you put delts and chest in for some auxillary work anywhere? Maybe I missed that.
I normally do. I’ve been having some significant shoulder issues lately. I decided to drop those two back a little to see if we can let it heal before the springtime, when I will go back to strength training.
Wanna give some more detail on those shoulder issues?
Is it your separated AC joint again (that was one of your problems, right?) ?

Sounds familiar!
MODOk,
Do you believe in holding your weight for a few months after a cut or bulk? Was it something you ever did back in the day, is it something you’d recommend?
Let’s say you cut down, would you hold your new weight before going back to gaining or just start adding kcals weeky right away?
ever try ALCAR?
hmm well fwiw, if you havent heard, i’m pretty sure Biotest is developing their own ALCAR product… dont think they would be if it hadnt shown some promise
did you mean twice a day?
Possibly each bodypart twice per week? Just guessing from what I’ve read of Modok’s posts in the past.
MODOK what is your view on one 20-24h fast a week? you said that IF in long run is not good idea, you were refering to leangains approach or ANY IF approach ?
MODOK wrote:
Meal frequency is a hot topic for debate recently and I’ve shared a lot of my thoughts about it in the past and even last week on the Nutrition forum. Basically, I have played around with the “IF” concept for many years myself. Extending the fasting period (either before or after sleep) has some nice positives to it. You do lose fat at a nice rate thanks to the SNS activity. As mentioned above, the diet I did in 2008 was based on this principle and designed with it in mind. It worked well. Could it work better? Sure. It does have drawbacks as well, and I have shared those thoughts on chronic cortisol and stress response in the IF thread from last week that caused LeanGains Apostles to stroke out. Summarily, increasing your “fasting time” is a useful short-term tool to help shed bodyfat. For some, more stable hormonal profile need to be considered in order to get truly very lean, but “IF” normall works very well to get people to around 10%. After that, you may or may not have to make significant adjustments to change the hormonal atmosphere in your body to rid yourself of the last few lbs. IF concepts do not translate well to chronic use (due to the cortisol issues I have written about) and they do not lend themselves well to any “mass or bulking” phases due to the hormonal issues encountered when bolusing food. So the truth, as is with most everything in life, meal frequency is both individualized and dependent on the goals of the athlete.
As far as carbing up goes, it really is an “auto-regulation”. I know you guys like that term on T-Nation. As your stomach “shrinks”, you just eat less and less during the carb load. It limits itself because you will get sick if you try to force it. Just eat till you are stuffed, and thats all you can do.
Came in here to learn something and LOL’d at this. I know I’m one of “those guys” that loves IF and how its simplified things for me. Although, truthfully, your comments even a couple months ago regarding chronic stress had me digging to learn more about human physiology.
Thanks for all the info you put out there, making us all think, and for the respectful manner in which you post. I like how you’re open to trying new things and encourage people to explore and test dietary methods to find what works for them.

Correct. Twice a week/bodypart. Sorry about that. I’ll be working to get my total volume/bodypart back up to 15 sets/week. Then we’ll see what BBB will do again for 12 weeks or so. Should be fun.
ohhhh forgot you were doing the 5/3/1 set up. looking forward to hearing the results but if you arent going for mass any more then just looking for strength then?
i know i’ve read about it some where but cant find it…
the day after your carb up, i think you fast, correct?
is that a true fast or BCAA’s or an IF style day or do you train?
thanks
Is that a dog… Hanging from the ceiling?
You have a real talent for photography, or at least for uploading pictures everything from upside-down to sideways, but never the right way hahahaha
Good luck with BBB. Don’t kill yourself, brother.
