Molly, just a quick question, what will you be wearing on your feet for the meet? I always see you wearing those cute shoes but can’t tell what kind they are. If you’re wearing them for the meet, you may want to confirm that they are acceptable. We have a shit ton of rules governing what we can and can’t wear.

Molly, you would have been SO proud of Katy and Siouxsie’s Kroc rows yesterday. 70lbs. looked easy…you better watch out!

Freakin awesome!! There’s a part of my program that’s coming up where it says to perform ‘speed bent-over rows.’ I’m totally translating that to mean ‘Kroc rows’ just so I can start doing them. Hahaha!

Ouro - I was planning on wearing my Vibrams… I am 99% sure that they are OK to wear… if not I will buy some Chucks or something this week… but I am almost positive that the guy (Ky NASA Chairman) said I could wear my Vibrams …

Skye - thank you, but my other one was much faster and for the life of me, I can’t get it to load! SO WEIRD! Same size as the other ones… I will just have to put it on You Tube and link it…
Annyway, nothing specifically happened to my quad that I can remember… they just started aching very badly one day a couple of weeks ago… I think they are just tired and need a break. Plus switching to sumo deadlifting has bothered them a bit it seems… so we will see… =D

Betty - thanks for the cheer…! Yes I am resting them today, but tomorrow it’s back at it again! =D

Claire - thank you! I was so pumped about it! I KNOW I can get more! I am trying to foam roll and rest the quads… and I think I am going to take an Epsom salt bath tonight! =D

Ouro - checked with the boss man about the Vibrams and they are good to go! WHOO HOO! =D

So to be honest I had an AWFUL night at the gym tonight… super discouraging! We were going to go in and hit all of our openers tonight, and then go home. We wanted to go in order of the meet, so we decided to squat, bench, then deadlift. Squats went fine… I got warmed up, used 45 lbs, 95 lbs, 135 lbs, 165 lbs, 185, and 205. Wore my belt for 165 and up, wrapped my knees for 185 and 205. They all felt fast and easy, and depth was great! So I KILLED my squat opener… 205…was having a little quad pain at this point… but not too much.

Then came bench… 45, 75, 95, 115, then put on my belt, got a lift off with 135, SUPER LONG pause on my chest, pressed on command, then held it at the top forever and racked it on command also. It was EASY!

Then came Deadlift… used 95, 135, 165, 185, 225… both 185 and 225 felt slow… and my quads were hurting so badly at this point. I could hardly stand up and sit down to rest between sets. Then I went to do a single with 265 before I tried my opener at 300…
265 wouldn’t freaking budge… I was pulling and I was just in so much pain that I couldn’t keep pulling. As soon as I realized that I had just failed with 265 I started to lose it… Tears were welling up in my eyes and then I just started to get PISSED! So I took a couple of deep breaths and pulled it conventional… (conventional is much less painful for me when my quads act up…)

Then we decided to drop my opener to 290… so we put 290 on the bar and I pulled it conventional. Stiff-legged BOTH 265 and 290… but who cares… I ALWAYS stiff-leg it when I pull heavy conventional… and I know I can get the weight up…

Anyway, I am very frustrated/disappointed by tonight. I foam rolled for 40+ minutes after the workout, and I plan on taking an epsom salt bath, doubling up on my ZMA, taking about 30-40 grams of fish oil PER DAY for the next 5 days, and taking hot/ cold showers (hydrotherapy) each day. I am also going to foam roll 2-3x a day for at least 20 minutes, and I am trying to get in to get a massage in the next day or two…

We are supposed to do singles with 70% of our 1RM on Wednesday… I will see how I feel. I may just go in and warm up and bench a little… not sure yet.

anyway… very bad day… It’s hard not to feel like all of my hard work is going down the drain… =*(

I will be spending more time visualizing over the next week… visualizing being healthy and feeling good and performing well… I TOTALLY believe in mind over matter

you lift a lot of really effing heavy weight. you think your bod won’t need a lil time to heal? you’re doing everything you can at this point, which is more than most people can ever say honestly.

WE know you’re gonna kick ass on saturday… YOU know you can lift the weight.

and if you don’t, i’ll touch your elbow.
