MMGALB727's Training Log

Molly,

You have the right idea about focusing on recover right now.

Also, wise move in lowering the deadlift opener. You can always adjust 2nd and 3rd attempts to whatever numbers are there on the day, but getting in an easy opener takes a lot off your mind, especially in the deadlift since it means you’ve “totaled” at that point.

Good luck at the comp, you’ll do fine.

Molly, your training has been great. You have been pushing your body and now switching to some rest and recovery will help you heal. Sounds like you have a great plan. Your going to kick a$$!

Claire

Betty - thanks for the support! =D

CBear - yes… I DO need to heal… I just didn’t realize that I needed more time than I had been giving myself… OOPS! haha… This is a hell of a time to figure that out!

Shannon - I will stab you and CBear BOTH if you come near my elbows or come near me with chalk… you KNOW that! haha… yes you are right… I think I am actually going to bump up calories a bit this week and maybe eat some extra carbs GASP… we will see… =D

Rugger - thanks for the encouragement! I just can’t psych myself out… I may even lower it a bit more just to TOTAL like you said… thanks for stopping by! =D

Claire - yes… the next several days will be all about recovery! Thanks for the kind words! I will be better by Saturday!

So I foam rolled and rolled on a rubber ball (looks like a Doggie chew toy) for about 20-25 minutes this afternoon… then had a KILLER massage. Seriously, I could tell that she felt badly for putting me through so much pain… but we both know that I needed what she was doing and that I will feel MUCH better in the end. She said that what was going on with my legs was originating mostly in my hips, some in my stomach area, and that it went up to my chest and sternum… CRAZY!

She was working like MAD on some trigger points on the inside of my quad and going down my inner thigh… O-U-C-H!!! We decided if my legs were still giving off heat by this evening, there would be no foam rolling…only epsom salt bath, hydrotherapy and stretching. If they are not, then I will foam roll AND do everything mentioned above. Good thing I don’t have much going on this week. =D

Hey Molly Molls! Hope things get better before your meet…I know you’re one person who’s well-equipped to know how to deal with this kind of thing…
Rest and heal, I know you’ll kick ass.
We are rooting for you.

Hey Skye! Thanks so much for the encouragement. I am feeling a smidge better… I will be feeling awesome when Saturday rolls around! =D

So today was our last day in the gym before the meet Saturday. We all just worked up to 70% of our 1 RM on squat, bench, and deadlift. Instead of squatting, I just put the weight on my back and walked it out. Practiced getting nice and tight under the bar and getting set up… then I walked it back and racked it. Only went up to 175 on this. Then I benched… did an easy single at 105 with commands… and when the gals were deadlifting, I foam rolled a little and stretched a bit.

Sbmart convinced me to take ibuprofen over the next several days. I was going to be stubborn and just stick with high doses of fish oil… but the more we talked, the more I realized she was right about starting to take it now (I was going to just take it Friday night and Saturday).

So, ibuprofen every 4-6 hours, 40 g of fish oil every day, lots of sleep (8-9 hours) + naps throughout the day, LOTS of good food (I am upping calories to around 2800-3000 the next couple of days), some foam rolling and stretching, and my epsom salt baths and hydrotherapy (hot/cold showers)…

I THINK I’ve got it covered. PLEASE anyone let me know if they can think of anything else! =D

Good choice!

Just think about it like this, your telling your body, I know you’re injured, I got the message (pain and inflammation), but there isn’t enough time to let you heal properly until after this meet, so shut the hell up (ibuprofren) so I can lift some heavy shit, then we can talk (rest) and you can do your thing (heal).

you can meditate! :stuck_out_tongue:
I suppose that’s part of visualizing though…

sending positive energy your way

sbmart - I like the way you put that! And dude… I know don’t like to be pushy… but when I am being an idiot just tell me to shut the hell up and listen like you did today with deadlifts and ibuprofen… K? =D

Betty - I have been so tired, every time I try to meditate I fall asleep! haha Guess my body is telling me something! Thanks for the positive energy!

I was going to suggest ibuprofen, but since sarah has that covered…I’m just going to say take care of yourself and adjust your openers if need be for something you can smoke. The first only matters for getting you on the board and totalling, the second and third are what make you do well.

Yeah Court - I will definitely be adjusting my openers even more if I feel like I need to. I already dropped by squat 20-ish lbs, and my deadlift 25 lbs… GRR! But everyone is right… it needed to be done! Now figuring out 2nd and 3rd attempts will be interesting.

Taking my ibuprofen right now =D

You can plan forever and have an idea of what you’d like to hit then show up on game day and keep them, add 20lbs to them or have to lower them. Since you’re not making weight, you don’t have that to contend with, but it still depends on how your body feels and how your mind is. Definitely more your mind though because if you’re in the zone, your body won’t feel a damn thing.

Just do what you need to do when you’re there. If that means ignoring Sarah entirely, do it. If it means talking with everyone, do it. Personally, once I’ve weighed in and started warm ups, I’m pretty much in my zone and don’t talk to anyone. Ask Diana. She said something (I don’t know what) after I missed my second squat and I didn’t even acknowledge her and may have even given her a dirty look. When I had a break between lifts and after it was all over, I finally became personable again.

Wait, when did this happen? Ouro, Diana do either of you remember this part?

On a serious note, Court is right. Have a plan going in, but be prepared to adjust on the fly as needed. And whatever your natural “game time” personality is, go with it.

This is for YOU!! :stuck_out_tongue: HAHA!

No I don’t remember it because quite frankly, I’m like Court and am in my own head. Some things stand out but not a lot. I’m pretty sure I said some fucked up shit as well.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement y’all! I was wondering a bit about the whole “Court being personable” thing… ;D

Quads are feeling OK… no pain… but I am not exactly doing anything to try to get them to hurt! I am trying to stay off of them!

So, I just got 11 hours of sleep! Talk about well-rested… hee hee ;D

Have LOTS of errands to run today… gotta pack my food for tomorrow, pack my bags, get stick-um for my hands for deadlifting (I am deathly afraid of chalk and don’t think I can use it)… I also am visiting both of my grandmothers today… they are so cute! Plus I am training my Dad and I have some work stuff to get done… so it’s a busy busy day!

Hope everyone has a good one!

Good luck tomorrow!!!

Claire

Kick ass! You two are going to rock.

All the best, Molly!!!
