MMA Training

That’s perfect, Pound4Pound. Most people mean “long distance jogging” when theysay running. Glad you don’t.

Add some bodyweight jump squats to your calisthenics. Try to hit a hundred. These will make a big difference.

Can you elaborate on this? I’m currently training 2.5-3 hours/day 3-4x/wk and now I’m totally paranoid that any cardio/technique benefits are being negated by strength loses/catabolsim I might be getting.

I am aware that working more than an hour is going to be inherently catabolic which is something I’m working on.

holy shit! and you weigh 200? that’s intense man, you might want to throw in some leg and ab crap in for variety, one circuit like you described, for the next circuit replace, say, the chins and clap pushups with 6 kip-ups and hitting the bag for 20 seconds or something, and I realize that heavy, hard circuit training is necessary for fight conditioning but I’m having a hard time divesting myself from the idea that you’ll overtrain in no time flat.

But just listen to your body, drink your pineapple juice and get plenty of sleep at night, then tell us how everything’s going.

I think it was accually first theorized by Angel Spazoff (great name) who was a great weightlifting coach for the eastern block years ago, and I’ve seen it mentioned many times on this site before, but working out intensely for more than 45 minutes to an hour will cause a drop in your testosterone levels. It really shouldn’t take more than hour to get a good workout anyway, unless you’re a powerlifter and you’re counting the two hours it takes to get in and out of those damn suits.
