Mixing Routines

Heh heh. No point in overkill.

I honestly was just curious. Most of the Men’s Health forum are TBT advocates, most people here seem to be split advocates. Both make compelling arguments. The quesions of whether anyone has ever tried both just simply popped into my head. There’s no sinister motivation behind it, I’m not doubting the infinite wisdom of those on this board. I just honestly wanted to know if i was the only one to ever wonder this.

To me, it would seem a good way to incorporate the positives of both styles. However, I understand that I am not an expert so I opted to ask around. Unexpectedly though, I walked into a buzzsaw.

The opportunity cost of a total body workout is either a recovery day from an intense body part workout, or an intense body part workout; combining these methods isn’t going to give you the best of both worlds.

Most of the replies to you on this thread were informative and useful. In fact, percentage wise, the replies you got were better than most threads like this so I’d say you didn’t get buzzsawed.

You might now though, cause you brought up men’s health…[/quote]

Let me guess, everyone here thinks the Men’s Health guys are bunch of scrawny pilates-doing sissys, and everyone at Men’s Health thinks you guys are roided out muscle heads?

Please enlighten me on the politics of fitness message boards.

So enlighten me a little on the politics of these message boards. Lemme guees, you guys look at Men’s Health guys as full body workout skinny sissies and the Men’s Health guys look at you as split workout roid heads?

Okay the key to message boards is that millions of people can say whatever they want, and be whatever they want so if you get offended then we get points.

Hence the “Level” designation under our names. You can see Itchy’s up to a 4 for good reasons.

 and I’m better I mean I have more points than you.

I can’t speak for the people at Men’s Health because I don’t post there or read it. I’m sure some of their members know what they are talking about. It isn’t my thing because it doesn’t interest me.

Full body is not JUST for sissies and splits are not JUST for roid heads.

If you really want to know the politices of these message boards stick around and learn them.

HARSH thread… I was kinda wondering the same but I don’t wanna get chewed up… I know it might (maybe, I want overkill) overkill, but I was curious about a routine such as

Mon- Upper body
Tuesday-off
Wednesday- total body workout
Thursday-off
Friday-Total body
Saturday-off
Sunday-Lower body

or something like this

I think its reasonable depending on training volume, so on full body days- they could be lighter-ish, almost metabolic or so…kinda similar to Thibs destroying fat article…just curious since were already discussing this…

You could certainly use full body circuits for lactate production and fat loss, in conjuction with a body part split for muscle gain/maintanence.

It’s one of the oldest debates around, maybe if you lurked for a while, read the boards, and tried learning first before just jumping in and making posts. I don’t go to many other forums, but when I do, I do a lot of reading around before I even begin to post.

I think someone posted an article about this on the first or second page.

TOG,

I agree 100%!

My above recommendation is from personal experience. This yielded nice results…for me anyway.

Don’t be so scared. Getting chewed up on a message board is hardly something to lose sleep over.

I doubt if there are many–if any–here who have something against MEN’S HEALTH. It simply has nothing to do with bodybuilding.

Men’s Health is to Bodybuilding what Emo is to Goth?

I wouldn’t make that comparison.

Seriously though, WTF is with all these little fruitloops running around in tight girl pants with there polka dot fucking boxers sticking out underneath a shirt 2 sizes too small and so much pomade in their hair that it almost overpowers the ambient stink of their unwashed bodies?
