I was just wondering if it would be a good idea to mix BBB and Triumvirate to allow for more variety and an opportunity to work on weaker areas. Of course volume would be adjusted accordingly.
For example, if you were weak at the start of your bench press, you could do something like
Bench Press - 5/3/1
Military Press - 3 sets of 10 (at whatever %)
Flat DB Press - 2-3 sets of 15
DB Row - 5 sets of 10
This would allow you to keep a higher training frequency for the Military Press with some additional practice/volume while also allowing you to work on your bench’s start. Volume is still kept to 5 sets or so. You might even be able to go a bit heaver on the Boring But Big sets since you are only doing 3 sets instead of 5.
Would there be any reason not to do something like this? Any input is appreciated. Thank you.
