i started eating them on a regular bases last week. I eat about 3/4 cup everyday but since they pack so much fat i’m kinda concerned about them being on my everyday diet. They too, however pack a lot of unsaturated fat… like nothing ive seen bfore so i’m guessing it can be too bad. So it’s chowing on nutzzz regularly a smart choice?
here is the first rule of nutrition anyone should learn:
ignore anyone that states low-fat is necessary for optimal health
Short answer: Yes, chowing on nutz regularly is a smart choice.
Long answer: From a health stand point, fats kick an incredible amount of ass. Monounsaturated fats, found primarily in avocado, nuts, and olive oil, have been found to lower LDL and raise HDL (both good). An increase in saturated fat has been linked to an increase in endogenous testosterone production (not linearly… more like sat. fat was the limiting reagent in the diets of the subjects), and certain polyunsaturated fats are completely unsynthesizable by the human body (Essential Fatty Acids, like EPA and DHA, in Flameout) and have been linked to leptin production (hormone governing satiaety and metabolism), decreased inflammation, and spinal health (the coating of your spinal cord… the myelin sheath, I believe, is made out of these fats).
So… yeah, nuts are a great choice to eat.
Fat doesn’t make you fat. Unrestricted consumption of sugar and refined carbs does.
i eat about 1 cup of raw almonds a day during the week at work just for the calories haha
I eat a mix of salted roasted and unsalted raw nuts every day, mostly walnuts, cashews, peanuts, filberts, pistachios, almonds, pecans etc. along with pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and flax seeds and I’ve been making good progress at changing body comp from fat to muscular. Nuts = good, just don’t pig out on them, small servings every day are better than a huge serving every now and then.
Those shelled sunflower seeds are so good i could eat 1000 calories just from them in one day. And you’r right about excess carbs and sugars being nasty, they are hazardous when it comes to having a nice stomach. I’m concenred right now bcuz I’m chowing down a shit load of excess carbs and it’s showing. Now, don’t assume that i’m fat i just wish that i could eat the same calories i take now but without ingesting so many carbs along the way, oh and i know that you guys will start telling me to forget the abs right now and just eat a shit load of clean foods.
But let’s face it who wouldn’t like to maitain a nice six pack while in the road to monsters inc. I recall reading like the first 5 words of an article on here abo0ut eating carbs seperate from fats sometime ago, I want to find it and read it now, who knows it might actually help bring some of those abs out a little without having to flex them. Any of you have an idea of what i’m talking about?
Damner, if you want your abs to show, you will have to lose fat. That means, consume a caloric deficit and make cardio a staple of your training routine. This is called a “cut” as you probably know. Unless you are already a big strong dude, or are grossly overweight, I do not suggest cutting.
In this case, a handful of nuts a day will be sufficient. Bulkers will usually eat 5x that many.

That’s not true. When I was eating clean and trying to put on weight I put on fat eventhough I limited sugar and refined carbs. If you’re calories are above maintenance you’ll gain regardless of what you’re eating…at least, that’s the case from my experience.
Damner, the article you read the first five words of is right here.
Massive Eating, by Dr. John Berardi

It’s worth pointing out that though the theory is sound, the practice is… well, there’s a lot of well-founded criticism of it, usually by big dudess. And by big dudes, I mean Ukpariah Mombooto and ProfX.
IMO, your genetics and age will determine how lean you can stay while putting on size (eg bulking) far more than whether or not you combine carbs and fats.

I’m lean even though i went from like 187 to 200lb but i lost the little abs that i had bfore starting Mark’s SS program. Whatever i’ll just have to deal with it.
