I drink milk often in order to gain weight and get necessary protien but I’m wondering if adding any type of chocolate syrup would have any downside. I would like to add the chocolate syrup for just purposes as oppesed to drinking regular milk all the time.
Have you considered just buying chocolate milk?

Most already made chocolate milk only has 2g of fat and I believe about 2g or 3g of protein compared to the regular serving size of whole milk which is 8g of fat and 8g of protein.
I just wanted to know if it had any downside seeing that I never see any chocolate milk in anyones “diet” and no one really has recommended chocolate milk in terms of gaining weight (that I have seen). Im probably just overthinking it…

Yeah, just drink it. Besides its fucking delicious.
Chocolate milk is a fine alternative for the peri-workout period (before, during and after training). Other than that, I don’t consider it a good choice, be it for bulking or dieting, due to the sugar content.

I have no clue where you are getting your chocolate milk from, but the ones I buy have the same fat and protien as my regular milk just more carbs in the chocolate.

This is exactly what I was going to say
Although I don’t recommend it pre workout, only because I know a lot of people that don’t do well with any type of milk before physical exertion. If you know what I mean.
If you have a very quick metabolism and are looking for some easy cals, then I think chocolate milk is fine. The only problem is it is high glycemic index due to the usual high fructose corn syrup found in most chocolate syrups, which could cause fat storage.
Bottom line, it has its benefits, and, just like everything else, is fine in moderation.
Go with chocolate milk post-workout.
If your metabolism can afford the excess sugar & calories, go with your home syrup added milk. As said above pre-mixed gallons you but have 2 maybe 3gr. protein x glass.
More Rich Chocolate OVALTINE Please.
They make sugar free Quick. Makes good chocolate milk but adds no carbs.

HFCS is not high glycemic.
In fact, since it’s usually a bit more fructose than glucose, it’s lower glycemic than sucrose (which is a 50/50 split of fructose/glucose).
Some good points you guys made. Thanks

You must be looking at a chocolate drink vs milk. Just checked and the chocolate and white milk in my fridge and both have 8g of protein/serving.
