I don’t know if it’s a marketing gimmick, but I remember seeing a TV commercial that says studies prove that two glasses a day of milk help a person stay lean. Has anyone else seen this, or come across this ‘study’.
For the life of me I can’t remember then the URL they referenced.

5 donuts a day will help you stay lean so long as you stay below your reguired calories. Just as grilled chicken and vegetables will make you gain weight if you go over your daily requirements.

And here I thought it was about caloric intake and the amount of calories you burn daily.

I dont know about staying lean, as its got sugar, and its high on the insulin index.
Whole milk is great for bulking, though.[/quote]
the insulin index is crap. The day milk, potatoes and a lot of fruits are considered ‘bad’ is the day I stop[ considering it credible. Mix a potato with cottage cheese and its a great snack. Fruit and its phytos are worth the excgange of a supposed high insulin index. Milk is a freakin’ complete food and a great one for most people. And many studies show the value of calcium w/r/t weight loss.
My conjecture is that dairy calcium combines the benefit of calcium with a high glutamine protein – of course the dairy association probably isn’t going to connect the dots for us.
