I’m recently trying to put on a bit ore size and can’t decide whether or not to include milk in my diet. I’m concerned mainly with the adverse hormonal effects that I’ve heard about. s this true? If the hormone content is a negative factor, might drinking only organic and supposedly “hormone/anti-biotic free” milk be a safer bet?
well i like key lime pie…should i eat that too? and only if i’m doing squats. hmmm… 2 useless answers in a matter of minutes. can someone who actually knows what they’re talking about please provide some input? thx
As far as I know, even though dairy cows may be given antibiotics, the milk itself usually does not have antibiotics in it. You would probably have to check that out with the USDA or something.
As for the other posters, one is basically telling you to quit worrying. Just drink it for its benefits. Everything around you is toxic to some degree, so its not really something worth worrying about. If you do, you wouldn’t eat anything.
The other is telling you - eat big to lift big. If you want to drink milk and all those calories, be sure to lift a corresponding amount of weight.

People over think everything. Do you know anyone that has had a problem with the hormones from milk? Have you heard of anyone having a problem with the hormones in milk? I bet you’ve been drinking milk your whole life, BUT NOW, your thinking about not drinking it because some one probably whispered to you that it wasn’t any good. You can find problems with everything you eat/drink, but I wouldn’t recommend you do that. Forgive my impatience, It just seems that threads around here pop up by the threes. Theres another milk thread rite now in the recents. Do a search first… another useless question.
I’ve been drinking full cream milk twice a day, everyday for the last 2 months. It’s hard to tell whether the milk your getting has got all those antibiotics and hormones people are talking about. I’ve been progressing well so far and i feel good. So i have no intention to stop drinking the milk even after hearing all the negative’s about drinking milk.
I think for a first time bulk or so milk is great.
I don’t like it anymore because it smooths me out something fierce. Also after my last show I’ve become extremely lactose intolerant. I was just a tad before hand, but now its hell.
thanks un33q and alex. 2 helpful, objective replies. i appreciate it. oh hey short hoss… i see you’ve retracted your comment about me probably not weighing more than 150 lbs. was it because you saw in my profile that it was incorrect and/or because you realized it made you look like an ass?
This is just a personal reason why i dont drink milk.
Calf born 100 pounds. 2 years later 1000 pounds. Drank alot of milk.
Human born 5-10lbs. 21 years later 150 -200 lbs.
I personally believe that the only time humans should drink milk is when breast feeding. The milk of a cow is designed for the growth of its youth.
You dont need milk. There is so many other things you can have. If you say you need it for calcium, that bull. Its not that great for calcium, take a calcium supplement.
Again this is just a personal belief, i dont tell people not to drink it.

Well, isn’t bodybuilding all about “growing”? Wouldn’t that make a case to use it when bulking? Wouldn’t you want to promote growth?

Holy crap. You don’t NEED a lot of things.
The goal in bodybuilding is to grow far beyond what you would be without any weight training…so by your own logic, the guy with that goal should be drinking milk like a fountain.
Did you even think this through before posting it?

The meat of a cow isn’t designed to be eaten, it is designed to be used as muscle to move the cow.
The fruit of a tree isn’t designed to be eaten by humans. It is designed to provide nourishment for the seeds.

Jesus Christ, I just smashed my face against my desk 20 times and I’m still not retarded enough to wrap my head around this logic.
I think anything with the nutritional benefits of milk should be consumed in excess, especially if you can tolerate it and need extra protein and cals. A gallon of skim has over 2000 calories. I’m not a huge fan of eggs so I drink a lot of milk to make up for them. I drink a minimum a quart a day of skim and more if I’m out of whey protein. To me, skim is like protein water, just a little thicker. Goes down smooth without making you feel bloated and full. Tall glass is 15-20 grams of protein, so why not drink milk?

I’m glad you’re not eating eggs. Eggs are made to give chicken embryos nourishment to develop and hatch. If you are not a growing chicken, you shouldn’t eat eggs.
