I was curious about what Mike Alstott was doing these days, so I googled him. I came across this interesting tidbit in which he used to drag old bathtubs for conditioning work! Go “Bathtub Mike!” Maybe I should look up a place that sells old bathtubs!
Alstott is married to Nicole Alstott, they have 3 children[2]; their daughters are Hannah and Lexie along with son Griffin. Their family currently resides in St. Petersburg. Along with his wife Nicole they formed the Mike Alstott Family Foundation.
Alstott also owns Island Way Grill a restaurant in Clearwater along with former teammate TE Dave Moore. Alstott hosts an annual football camp. He was given the key to St. Petersburg on February 13, 2003. He makes an annual visit to St. Petersburg All children’s Hospital to bring holiday cheer and to take photos with all the children. He is known by many of his fans as "Mike Horse, The A-Train and a half Alstott."Another famous nickname Mike has is “Bathtub Mike”. This comes from the days when Mike would strap old, used cast iron bath tubs to his back and run 40 yard sprints. This helped build his unique leg strength as well as prevent the old used bath tubs from taking up too much valuable space at the local landfills. Mike used upwards of 23 used tubs to drag on his back over the years.
I remember one time they were throwing him a screen pass and he didnt get his hands up in time, and the announcer went on and on about how muscle bound he was. Then he blasted up the middle and the guy shut up.
the only football jersey that I own is a red Alstott jersey. I sort of agreed with what TC said about sporting jerseys, but I’m proud to wear Alstott’s cause he was one determined sumbitch!
And I had no idea about the bath tub thing. I wonder how that all started!
