I took a lot of effort on my part. When I was younger, they were so easy because I was the girl you would always find on the monkey bars. But getting caught up in throwing shot put and discus made me focus more on strength (having to bench, squat, clean heavy weights) as compared to wanting to focus on other things.

When I get the chance, I will try a pull-up anywhere (door ways or if I pass a bar). After a while, I started building up to more than just one at a time.

It’s so satisfying being able to do 20 total now, whereas 3 weeks ago it was barely 16.

And earlier today, I did 43 minutes on my mountain bike… with a flat tire -__- I made sure to pump up the tires before going out, but as soon as I sat on the seat, the back tire just looked so deflated, and I only replaced the inner tubes almost a year ago. But I figured what the hell, and cycled my ass off.

lol!! I had to laugh at the tire thing  I can just see your face as you say ‘fuck it’
Nice work in here lady!

With additional core work in between sets. Woof.

Today was just one of those days when I decided to make things much more difficult out of sheer boredom. I partially blame it on the fact that I really want to do this 5k adventure race in late September, and partially on getting to know one of the best, most in-shape athlete I have ever met (this guy runs adventure races and gets first, became one of the coaches for the Spartan Training Camps, and just an all-around ripped and awesome athlete.)

Exercise Bike Intervals for 12 minutes, 1 minute of vigorous effort, 2 minutes of moderate effort (first time doing it in a while, plan on doing it at least once a week from now on)

DB Incline Bench
4x12 @ 25

Dips
4x12 @ bodyweight

Rear delt raises
4x12 @ 25lb DBs

Tricep extensions
4x12 @ 70lbs

With some leisurely walking earlier today for 68 minutes.

And counting in three different languages: Forwards, then backwards, then alternating the language backwards (I get BOREDDD). Gotta keep my Italian nice and cleaned up, especially for an interview this Monday, but I gotta practice my German, and make sure I don’t forget English.

Rock that upper body! Also, what type of position are you interviewing for? That is amazing you speak so many languages. I was adopted from Korea and learned German in college; currently, how many languages do I speak? Yep, just one.

Hahah thanks. The dips was a big one for me. 4x12 is an all-time record so far, which is really exciting for me. PROGRESS!

The job interview is a follow-up with HR for an Italian cosmetic distributing company which they need an Italian speaker, since the current one (my aunt) is retiring, or already has. The position is in the purchasing department, which isn’t even close to my degree but I’m still kinda useful, I’ll take it.

Altogether I speak two languages, functional in Spanish (reading and listening, not so much the speaking part), have fundamental Latin, and working on basic German. I have the numbers in Mandarin and Japanese up to 10, and some basic phrases in each.

I like flexing my brain, so I keep working with languages. Aiming to start Arabic by October.

Well, I’m sending you lots of good juju for your interview. That sounds neat – and good for you challenging yourself mentally. I sometimes allow myself to consider the possibility of learning a new language but then, I am mentally lazy and like “nah.” I guess I can give myself a tiny break since I have been in school for the past 6+ years (but almost dunzo).

Congrats!! Tricep dips seem like a really good isolation exercise. I can’t do the cool ones where you are uprightish and hang off the two bars – each time I try, I freak out and hop down. The closest I have done to a true dip is off the bench (which I guess isn’t that close). I did them in my previous training block. I have a deload week coming up so, maybe I will see how the bench tricep dips go and start them up again. I was up to a 45 pound plate and could really focus on just my triceps and keep solid form. The other ones just scare me.

Lastly, your cute little icon makes me smile every time I see it. Do you eat a primarily paleo diet? Now that my crazy life is starting to settle down, I am seriously considering cutting a bit and trying to get leaner. I am just curious about how the other women in this forum eat, etc.

Have a super weekend!

Hahaha thanks! What are you in school for? I assume some sort of Masters program or higher, yes?

Dips used to scare me. All I ever did was reverse push ups, but then track workouts made me do dips, so I had to get over it.

Eating-wise, I’m basically paleo. It fits my lifestyle much better, since processed foods make my migraines much worse. My brother is paleo also, we share recipes and always end up talking about certain foods.

And yeah, enjoy your weekend!

10 minutes on the heavy bag

Exercise Bike Intervals for 12 minutes, 1 minute of vigorous effort, 2 minutes of moderate effort

4x6 pull-ups (with two individual pull-ups to make sure it was to failure)

RDLs
4x10 @ 115

Hanging leg raises
3x10, 1x15

Today was just one of those drawn out, on-your-feet-all-day kind of days. My nonni are moving to Florida tomorrow, so today was spent packing up the moving truck, and despite having two movers to get the big furniture and move the truck, I was the one moving all the heavy boxes (read: 4 1-gallon bottles of homemade wine in one of the boxes, plus other boxes with enough alcohol to drown a horse, a desk, an armchair, etc.) Which went on top of teaching karate and a 72 minute walk.

Needless to say, I’m ready for bed.
