What I don’t understand is why the hell do athletes carry stuff like that? Its not like they couldn’t send out one of their groupies to go score something for them when they hit another town or something.

I would imagine people act pretty stupid in many situations. I would also imagine that famous people are more prone to piss of security and maintenance personnel simply because they are used to getting their way. I could care less about defending why he did what he did. My only comment is that people jump to conclusions even when all of the facts aren’t in and the ones we do have are saying something different.
It was an empty bottle. Those “secret water bottle safes” go for 20 bucks on Ebay and look like the real deal. They aren’t exactly that “secret”…especially after this. I mean, how much trouble can he get in for this? Not only can he claim it was someone else’s and that was why he didn’t want to throw it away, but it had nothing in it but a smell. the way some people were writing in this thread, you would think he tried to sneak a kilo of coke onto a plane. I’m sure he can afford a lawyer who can get him off if they do file charges.
