It’s a shame we’ll probably never know the details.
What stacks? Are you saying that because he has a chance at 8 gold medals, he has to be on the juice?
DO you have anything other than your own pathetic opinion with which to back this up?
I actually believe (I am not 100% here so people correct me if I’m wrong) that Phelps, along with (again, not positive but pretty sure) Tyson Gay and Katie Hoff and possibly another athlete are doing what they are calling “Supertesting” where they are going to be tested every single day over the duration of the Olympics.
Of course, that doesn’t mean POSITIVE that they are clean (could still be beating the tests) but definitely is an admirable step to be taking to try to help clean up their sports.
Marion Jones was tested a massive number of times and never once returned a positive test, despite the fact that she had been juicing for years. She was even using during the Sydney olympics while she was constantly being tested.
You still have to give everyone the benefit of the doubt though.

Also remember that Phelps has a lot of lean, metabolically active MUSCLE mass (not just “lean body weight”); with workouts and a Sport that continually stokes his metabolism.
He probably also partitions his cals toward muscle much more efficiently than the average person.

The thing that I found most interesting is how cut Phelps actually is. I honestly cannot remember ever seeing a defined swimmer before. Don’t get me wrong… they are never a bunch of chunky monkeys, but they also have always looked on the smooth side.
Phelps is the first guy (that I have noticed at least and I am not exactly some kind of uber-swimming fan) I have noticed at the elite swimming level that looks like that.
On a testing note: I heard they are freezing and keeping all the samples for either 10 or 12 years. So if a better way to test comes up in the future, they can retest everyone.

Plus Softball and Mens/Wemons Beach Vallyball are all but in the bag and we should do well in girls gymnastics. Im waiting for the big boys to start lifting wights, thats should be fun to watch
China yesterday was insane. 63kg class i think, one went for a C&J of 184kg and nearly had it (already locked the gold). Was amazing to watch that level of strength.
I can’t believe how badly he dominated that 200 free. Nobody was even near him! These guys are all olympians, you would think that someone could have at least made it close. Can they piss test for dolphin DNA?
Phelps is unreal to watch. Definately the talk of the games. The coverage on Aus TV is usually only of aus events, but they can’t stop talking about phelps either.
This dude is so good it’s ridiculous. You think everyone who gets in the water with him knows they’re competing for second? That’s a serious question. I know he has 11 total, but how many golds has he won this Olympics?

5 Total so far.
The guy is a beast. The lead he gave his teammates in the 800m was unreal to watch. Gave me goosebumps

If you really think he’s on something, get good at swimming, join the Wolverines, then you’ll find out how much dedication and hard work they put in and how little of it depends on some “secret stack”

Im a swimming newbie, so i was wondering, does a tighter suit + shaving make THAT much of a difference? I’ve always wondered this.
Probably a case of ‘the better you are, the more important it is’. Much like tennis pros rackets make a huge difference, you give me a $30 or a $300 racket and I’ll play about the same.

10 gold metals and one more World record…

On a side note the Chinese women have just opened the door for the US women, lets see if they can take advantage.

Well, turns out the U.S women couldn’t capitalize on it afterall. Sad, but still satisfying at silver.
The interviews that made me laugh were with Bob Costas and Bela Karolyi, where Bela continually alluded to the fact that the Chinese team were underage. He all out stated it twice…Bela isn’t convinced that all those girls are sixteen, and neither am I. One would think it more impressive of a defeat under the circumstances, but Bela is of the opinion it makes them more fearless competitors who aren’t as liable to buckle under Olympic pressure. Either way, a W is a W… and a gold is a gold.
As for Michael Phelps, …I seriously doubt that he juices. They can test him until the sea cows come home…and years from now I’m still confident as can be that he will never have his medals revoked for drug enhancement. I’d almost stick my head in a guillotine and swear to it…almost. He is just simply the best.
It is absolutely unreal how far out in front (literally and figuratively) he is from his competition. Those other guys in the water are the BEST swimmers in the world, and they’re getting brutalized.
I was actually disappointed when I heard Ian Thorpe retired from competitive swimming. He was the only guy who could truly compete with Phelps.
I extremely highly doubt that Phelps is using illegal substances. He was in his first Olympics at 15 years old, and swimming isn’t gymnastics, where you can typically compete at that young an age. He’s just the biggest genetic freak amongst a competition of genetic freaks.
I can’t help but think, however, that the last Olympian that I saw absolutely dominate the rest of the field like Phelps is, was Ben Johnson…
