CT, I’d like you get your advice on what to do in workouts when we encounter a mental block, especially during the ramp. Tonight I was nearing the end of my ramp for hang clean and push press. Last workout I managed 220 but today I could only manage 205.
When I got to 215 I went to pull and I got a real case of anxiety and when I pushed my hips I almost instinctively halted the pull when it got the midd stomach height. I tried again after a minute of so but got the same result. This didn’t seem like my physical limit and I managed 3x3 with 195 after I failed to clean 215. I can only think it was mental but I’m not at all sure why. Yesterday and today was mentally exhausting at work but that’s all I can think contributed to it. Generally speaking, what should we do when we encounter this kind of problem. Just proceed as if this is our max when figuring the weight to use for the rest of the workout?
