Just about finished with my cutting phase (gone from 12 percent to 6.5) and I’d like to use Meltdown for the final push for my all-time low record). The problem is the squats/deads. Every time I have attempted to do both on the same day I have injured myself. I’ve tried it with Bill Starr’s 55 (progressively heavier sets working up to 5rm), and Charles Poliquin’s Maximal Weights 55 using the same weight for each set. I really don’t want to have to change anything about the program. Any suggestions?
When you say you injure yourself I assume you mean your back? Could be a technique problem, one thing with meltdown is that you are not using mnaximal weights and really concentrating on tut, so that may be a diference that helps. One possible thing could be one legged squats with back leg on bench in place of squatts, I’d leave the deads in tho.
