What the hell has this thread become!? “Edge of Darkness” was pretty good. Just got done watching it. Mel played a really nice guy in that movie. There’s no way he would say the things on those tapes. I think he’s being framed. Sometimes things don’t look the way they really are.

While I agree with the first point, there are circumstances that - although 99% of men won’t be in - would need some form of attack to protect yourself from a woman.

The only plausible situation that I could imagine where I would even CONSIDER punching a girl in the face is if a group of girls, maybe 8 or more, were beating the crap out of my sister of girl friend or some other female family member and I was seriously concerned for their safety. In that case there would be too many girls to try to wrestle off, and I would definitely be willing to crack a female in the mouth if she were trying to hurt someone I cared about.
Aside from that, no, even if a female has a bat I’m confident I could get it from her without punching her.
Now Mel Gibson punched his wife while she was holding her daughter… Unless she had a knife to his daughter threatening to kill her there is almost no other circumstance that would justify knocking her teeth out. He’s a bitch! I think I speak for most tnation when I say, if that were my daughter/ sister who’s teeth he knocked out he’d be drinking thru a fkn straw for the rest of his miserable days.

Granted, I have not been “attacked” the last 15 years or so, but if someone would, he or she would be very lucky if I do not pick up the next heavy blunt object and bash his or her head in.

It’s not about kung fu. Punching someone who has a bat is not the most effective way to stop them. If someone has a bat you need to keep a safe distance before you attack, a leaping punch leaves you open to get cracked and KTFO. Tackling her on the other hand is a much safer way to take her down. She’ll be ready to swing like babe ruth, but if you go low and protect your head (maybe even get her to swing an miss once) even if she hits you some of the momentum would be taken off the swing by suddenly having to swing down rather then straight at you as she would be prepared to if you were standing right before the attack, then take her to the ground.
Best way to defend against a bat, IMO. Then again nobody’s ever attacked me with a bat before, so I guess I’m just speculating.

I’ve never been attacked by a woman physically, but small unexpected attacks when I’ve been out have left permanent damage (Ie. reduced hearing in my left ear) when some fucker runs up and hits you completely unprovoked and then runs away. If that was a woman, I’m sorry but I’d hit the bitch back.
