You’d get a warning for the thumb straps. Wouldn’t lose a lift over it.
A couple of other beginner pointers: no boxers or boxer briefs allowed, long knee socks required for the DL, and socks cannot touch knee sleeves for any lift. Any other questions just ask.
Only thing I couldn’t find info on was whether or not the undershirt could be a compression style. like if i wore a normal under armor compression shirt for squat/bench would that be allowed. Or does it have to be a normal cotton-style tee
All of my opener practice from last week (week 7). My squats were the only thing that gave me worry, I didnt have my sleeves until the second single, was rushed so was pretty immobile (depth issues) but everything still felt light. Depending on how I feel on meet day might take my opener down to 415 or 425 just so I can bury it and stay safe.
Are there any specific rules for who can be backstage with you helping you warm-up/choose attempts? I don’t have a certified coach or anything but my dad will be there with me and we always work out together. Wasn’t sure if he would be able to be backstage with me even though he isn’t any kind of certified coach.
Yeah unfortunately I was EXTREMELY heavier than I had thought. Weighed 236 the 4th. 214 this morning so I should make weight. Don’t expect any huge numbers just trying to qualify for natties.
Good job doing it right and taking a few weeks. I cut water from 232 to 220 in 36 hours for my first meet and it was tough. I competing this Sunday at 242 now though. Currently sitting pretty at 240 from 245. Much easier lol
Haha hell yeah! I wanted to hang around 215 2 weeks outbut I guess I had one too many servings a few times Will definitely not be going anything above 210-215 from now on though. And yeah the 24hr weigh in helps a lot! 2 hour is a bit rougher which is why next time I would love to be a lot closer.
To be honest I nearly said to hell with it and competed 105kg but I had 0 chance of qualifying for nationals in that weight class and I figure I should be able to qualify in the 93kg even if I come in as a full on dehydrated anorexic, so figured I’d take the risk and give it a shot. We shall see if it payed off or not.
Best of luck … FWIW i was back up to 232 in about 6 hours thanks to pedialyte, ramen noodles, and fruit slice candies lol. I probably wouldn’t try to drop more than 5 lbs myself for a 2-hour weigh in.
Yeah I will probably be close to 220 when I lift. Not 100% sure on lifting times as the weigh-ins are 7-8:30, with no specificity so hoping I get to weigh in right away. Then lifting is 9-1pm with 2 weight classes so am assuming I will lift around 11ish. So best case scenario I have nearly 4 hours to rest up and get back right.
I compete with RPS and the weigh-ins are basically first-come first-serve. I’m assuming this is USAPL/IPF? So im sure its more structured but I wouldnt worry about it. Just have your rehydration snacks & drinks handy as soon as you make weight.
