I have tried 3 times to do a meet and something always came up. Twice my service in the National Guard kept me away from the meet and another time family stuff. This time I am putting on the blinders and getting it done.
It is a push pull meet so no squat. I follow 5/3/1 religiously and am going to GOMAD with whole milk until meet day.
My current bench max is 180 and not sure on deadlift yet. Broke my leg at basic this year and have yet to retry a 1 RM (but I did 230x11)
Any advice/support is appreciated. Anything negative, I don’t care. My job involves building roads in Afghanistan. No keyboard warriors are gonna ruin my day.
Goals: Bench 205 Deadlift 340 at 148 lb class.
Not super hero numbers I know.
When you go to deadlift, imagine you are picking up a bomb on said road you are building and you have to fling it as high as you can in the air by taking a deadlift stance. 340 will come up easy if you can truly convince yourself of that. Also thanks for all you do over there.
As more of a side note, just enjoy the first meet, it’s a great experience numbers good or not.
Thanks man. My big goal is 365 if I can get it. But I think 336 was the best at the last meet there and I have done 305 before. I have 72 days left. Any advice on how to warm up at the meet?

Just like you do in training. I don’t like changing things up for a meet wildly. The only thing I do is cut my warmup a bit shorter obviously since my opener is usually what I might term my last warmup set.
Starting 5/3/1 for powerlifting this was my first bench day 125x3 145x3 and 165x3
Then did a single with 170 then 187.
187 is a 10 lb PR
