@wiggles: Keep up the good work!!!
@law8: Nope, I have my mom to thank for my calves! S
he has, bare none, the best calves in the family!!! Then again, she used to always wear high heals at work and even though Im willing to do everything in order to get better, wearing high heals, that’s going a bit too far!!! lol! Back when I was a teenager, I only had big legs and calves, because of my mom genetics.
Your shoulder width is stupid, haha. Any chance you can put up some of your recent contest pics for us?

Don’t forget about your calves training secret… doing standing calf raises to pass time at work (true story).

As soon as we get some we will post them up. But yeah, for his height he has the widest shoulders I’ve ever seen.

LOL, I used to do calf raises off the street curb when I was in college and my pup would stop to do his ‘business’. Now I’m curious to hear what Alex did!
S
Alex, interesting point from you and stu, and thanks for your reply. If I may ask a follow up question, how would you characterize the difference in training methodology you currently utilize under CT (in terms of sets, reps, volume and frequency) from what you previously did during your early training career?

Damn it…I wanted that award.
Just poppin in to say you look fantastic, congratulations on what you have accomplished.
I have no doubt you have a lot more good things in store, especially with CT in your corner!

You’re taller than he is and I said ‘‘for his height’’ ![]()
@Christian Thibaudeau: Yeah thats right, the famous ‘‘casino’’ calf raise!!! When I moved near coach Thibaudeau, I had trouble finding work in my field, so i ended up working as a security guy at the entrance of a casino, standing up 8-10 hours a day, smiling and saying hello and good bye…so when it was quiet, I use to walk arround, doing calf raises, as many and as often as I could!!! The secret is out…damn!
LOL @ AR - I do calf raises while standing around on the phone!
Awesome work man, you look phenomenal for 240 mate. How long did it take you to get from 200ish to 240+? I’ve spent 4 months getting to 200 @ 8% (from 185 @ 6-7%) and really want to be 205-210 @ 5%. Another 12 months i’m thinking, but geez I just seem to keep getting stuck on plateau’s every 5 or so pounds.
@iwong: Well first of all, I use to train everybodypart the same amount of volume, which led me to have strong shoulders and quads, my two natural strong points. I would normally stay in the 8-12 reps range, 4 sets for each exercice. With coach Thibaudeau, we specialized on certain bodypart for couple weeks, while maintainng the rest, so that my weak points catch up to my strong points. As for reps and sets, even him couldn’t tell you, I did fewer reps with more sets, supersets, dropsets, circuit, eccentric less training, forced rep, everyday was different, depending on how Chris would feel, how I evolved and look, I also had couple injuries (hamstring pull and chest tear), so he’d planed the training accordingnly. Really, hes a genius, never had such improvements since my early years, where you grow very easily.
@precedent: Getting big is easy, getting better is a lot harder!!! I first broke the 240 platau when I was preparing for my first show, when I ballouned up to 242 lbs, to a huge 17% bodyfat!!! By that time, I’d been lifting for a good 6 years, but then, I dieted down to a flat 176 lbs, which goes to show you that the weight I gained was mosty water and fat. I’d say that it took me at least 9 years of serious lifting and dieting to be able to look good at 240 lbs. Now, my goal is to acheive the same conditionning I normally have at 240, but at 265-270 lbs, while maintaining a tight waist and better symetry. And Im not in a hurry either, brick by brick, step by step, everyday I get closer to my ultimate goal!!!
Well said

Thanks for the thoughtful responses alex. You are going to look even more awesome when you fill out to a well conditioned 265-270. Its also great to see living proof of CT’s training methods.
@VikingsAD28: Thanks a lot man, Im gonna bust my balls like never before in the next year, which I hope is gonna be my best one so far, at least everything is into place to acheive great things! Hope to have you guys by my side every step of the way!!! ![]()
@iwong: I’ll do my best not to make the same mistake guys often make, sacryfying esthetic lines and symetry in order to get big and freaky…I dont win by playing the ‘‘freak’’ card, I win with a nice overall package, a blend of mass and lines, with a tight waist with no gut showing and a mix of ripped muscle and muscle fullness.
