Medial Knee Pain/ Posture Correction

My natural stance has my feet pointed outwards about 25 degrees, while my knees point straight. If I stand with my feet straight ahead, my knees face inwards and if I bend them, they move inwards also.I’m also slightly knock-kneed I believe. When squatting or running or any physical activity involving the knees really, I’ll get pain on the inside of my right knee that’ll last a couple hours or a day or so. I suspect its caused by the way my knee bends in relation to the rest of the leg. I guess its causing shear forces on the inside of my knee. I’ve had an MRI and X-ray done and everything was normal.

If I squeeze my glutes hard while standing with my feet forward, it seems to correct the postural issues. Is this just a product of weak/inhibited glutes? How can I go about correcting this?

Simple answer - Getting strong/active glutes.

You probably have a mobility issue going on with tight hip internal rotators in conjunction with underactive/inhibited hip external rotators. But without physically assessing you, that is an assumption based off of the information you gave in your post. There may be other issues going on instead of or in addition to that. To correct things, go find somebody who can do a proper function movement analysis/screening and determine exactly where your deficits are. From there you will know where you need to focus corrective exercises towards.
