Med Ball Slams and Similar Exercises, Ideas?

I recently started doing tabatas, and am enjoying them greatly. I started with Kettlebell Swings, and yesterday did some medicine ball slams. I’m looking for ideas for other exercises I can do for GPP or tabata work. Can someone help me out?

Thrusters, burpees, plyo work (vjumps and the like), resistance band trunk twists, you name it.

Maybe you’ve heard about that secret phenomenon purportedly called XFit…

LOL yes, I was thinking like xfit type stuf. shhhh it’s a secret

Holy crap…there’s a conditioning forum??? How long has this existed

For some reason, your question made me think of a cross fit guy I ran into at the gym who told me he would do “tabatas” with his 225-lb deadlifts. It was hard to keep a straight face.

So assuming you’re not a crossfit superhuman I would definitely recommend buying “Cardio Strength Training.” He breaks down some really good exercises to do for complex training, interval strength training, tabatas, etc. It’s dirt cheap on amazon, too.

Also, what do you mean when you say you “enjoy” your tabatas? Hopefully, you mean you enjoy the way you feel about yourself a half hour later when you’ve finally recovered. If you enjoy them, while doing them, then you are not doing a tabatas. By definition, they are meant to be 100% effort during the ENTIRE work interval.

Sledgehammer. Nuff said.
