Hey guys and gals, i was wondering if anyone knows just how much weight a standard 1 inch thick 7 foot long chrome bar can take?
till now i’ve used my 6 foot steel bar, but i was in Dicks sporting goods today and saw a 7 foot and got it for laughs.
Now i load up 200 and it looks like its bending a fair amount. Now granted this could be due to the fact that im used to looking at a 6 ft bar so obviously the load is closer together and bends less. So the real question is, if i put 350-400 lbs on it am i risking it snapping?
Yeah but its a standard, so no big ends. Just 1 inch long the whole way. I dont know if it’s the exact same with the standard size ends, or if it’s thinner or weaker or what.
Here is a link to it cause i don’t know if im explaining it well.
try to find out what the bar is rated at. most crappier bars are rated at 1000 lbs but you can see them bend at 300+ sometimes. Most bars made for powerlifting are rated at 1500lbs (texas power bar).
