Max Amount of Protein

I was wondering if their is a max amount of protein that you can intake before your body just stops processing it?

I eat/drink about 2g/weight and was wondering if it would be worth it to go up even more.

Im really looking to put on mass

177.92 grams, after that your kidneys pop. Seriously, who knows, we’re all different. I would imagine a person with more LBM can process more protein. If your a 200 lbs guy, 2g/lbs is 400 grams. I personally wouldn’t feel the need to go higher than that. If your looking to put on mass I would look at your fat and carb intake to increase.

I think you can even go higher with your protein intake but like elusive said the need behind that is the question.
I follow the metabolic nutrition. There you should aim on a high protein intake but i don`t follow the written amount. I follow the principles which stands behind that.
Carbs only in the morning and pre and post workout always with less or none fat. On training days lesser fat then on non-training days. Protein intake most of the time the same, but protein is the nutrient I eat the most.
That should also work for putting on some mass without getting much fat. No fat will be impossible.
But I would advice you take good protein, 2g/kg should make it, carbs and fats and look if you get heavier or not.
But you should look if your body likes carbs or not.

i’ve been on diets where i’m taking 1.25g/lb up to 3.25 g/lb just because of the diet goals…i’ve made great progress on both.

for ME; it just depends what i did with the calories…aka i didn’t just eat and expect to make progress. i busted my ass at the gym, class etc…

eat clean, get enough protein/fat/carbs and train as hard as you can. progress will happen.

good luck!

ive no idea. im around 240 lbs right now, and take usually over 400 grams.

i always feel better with more protein in every aspect

if it wasnt so expensive i’d get even more, so its really a money issue

I think 2g per pout of bodyweight is Plenty stay with that number but get lots of good carbs like oatmeal, whole wheat rice and sweet potatoes to get more calories if you need a calorie boost and dont forget fats they are really important to lots of mono, poly and some saturated wont hurt and will keep test levels high!

Total overkill. Unless you are using an anbolic agent that would help you synthesize all that protein…

If you are looking for mass, then I would focus on total calories (mostly carbs), and not one nutrient like high protein.

1 pound of protein per pound of bodyweight.

Ha!

Seems a little on the light side.

I just stopped counting how much protein I eat…I just make sure I eat 5-6 times a day and that each meal has a protein source and I just assume it’s enough.

Micromanaging all this stuff can make your head hurt. I’m a believer in somewhat winging it.
