I dunno, why does chinny dipping sound like something people do in a pond after dark?

Hiked Hawn SP 10 mile loop again today with my eldest son. Knocked better than 1/2 hour off of my time from two weeks ago. Bithcin’!

Damn, I love this workout! If you haven’t tried the 8x8 “honest workout” put it on your todo list.

I’ve been meaning to switch to clean/press from just overhead press. I backed off on the weight a bit because I figured it’d get the ticker a-pumpin’. I was not disapointed!

Last night I did stadium steps, but got rained out part way through.

The knee isn’t too happy. Sounds like a popcorn popper going off. There is all sorts of great research going on. They’ll be able to fix it about the day after I kick the bucket.

Jeebus! That’s a lot of tonnage being moved there. 128 reps per A,B,C - especially the clean and press (you can’t move a weight farther than that) - should build some work capacity for sure.

Nice work math…

Peakbagger Training Session #8-b: Cluster/Rest-Pause

Bench 115/5 145/3 165/8 180# 16 total rest-pause followed immediately by
Flyes 2x40#/15

Pullups/Chins 16 rest-pause followed immediately by
DB Row 2x40#/15

Overhead Press 45/5 65/3 85/3 105# 12 total rest-pause followed immediately by
Lateral Raises 2x20#/20

Squat 115/3 135/3 155/3 175/3 195# 13 total rest-pause followed immediately
Sissy Squat 2x30#/15

Got rained out of a planned hike this morning so I followed yesterday’s session by an experimental cluster…er…ah…session. Yeah, that’s it. That’s the ticket! I took the major lifts I’ve been doing at 90% of my working weight, and tried for a 20 rep rest-pause set. Got nowhere near it on any of them. Followed each of these up with a light pump set. I’d probably get more out of a session like this if I had a rest day preceeding. Ya think?

Charming - I ciphered up my totals from session 7 and 8a (ignoring the chins and dips on 7). Total of 22,035# on 7 (the heavy one), and 37,760# on 8 (the volume). Surprised me that it was that much more.

KMC - Thanks for the kind words. And don’t let them make fun of you for not having a neck. It’s just that that large, red, rectangular mouth with the rows of sharp, pointy teeth make it hard to notice.

Peakbagger Training Session #9 (Heavy)

A Squat 135/5 165/5 195/5 210/5 220/5

B Sumo Deadlift 135/5 185/5 205/5 225/5 245/5

C1 Bench 125/5 150/5 175/5 190/5 200/5 ! Finally got 5 @ 200# !
C2 T-Bar 125/5 150/5 175/5 190/5 200/5

D1 Overhead Press 50/5 80/5 100/5 110/5 120/3/2
D2 1 Leg Calf Raise 40/8 60/8 80/6 100/6 110/5

I tried for 4 on the OHP @ 120, but just couldn’t hack it, so I went back after the CRs and squeezed out a couple more.

I’ve been steadily increasing the squat. Feels good so far.

The Deads are another story. Every time, it feels like I tweak the bad knee somehow. I thought maybe the sumo stance would help. It felt good at the lighter weights, but at 245 not so much. I might have to cut out regular deadlifts, and just do Romanians or straight legs and see what that does for me. Or, maybe the squats and deads are just too much in one workout.

hey congrats on the 5@200 bench, math! I have also previously discovered that heavy deads and heavy squats don’t mix.

Really great work, math.
I have to agree with soldog. For me, at least, heavy squats and DLs in the same day don’t mix well.

x3.

Math, nice work.

I like the new avatar, too.

Thanks, guys.

Madcow only has the deadlift once per week

Maybe that’s what I ought to do.

Steely, what happened to our avatars? Mine just went away into the digital ether. I noticed that a lot of other folk’s disappeared at the same time. Probably everybody who was skeptical about I Bodybuilder. Yeah, that’s it! A conspiracy! And about that supposed film from the moon…

Heh. The levels are all screwed up again, too.

After 185 on the squat, he was stricken by a wild hair, and decided to go for the PR single. Much manly grunting issued forth prior to the 240 attempt. Luckily, no fair maidens were present, as they would surely have swooned. Brave, brave, Sir Mathineer then sallied forth once again into the fray, successfully bagging 250, but tweaking his back in the process. He then bravely retired from the field for the day, and went in search of merriment and feasting, proclaiming, “Bring me the wenches!”

Lol…nice PR Sir Mathineer! Hope the tweaked back didn’t inhibit the merriment with the wenches.

Alas, being served by a beertender with a speech impediment, he received only items suitable for removing nuts from bolts and many odd looks.

Nice job Math - hope you recover quickly to fight again.
