How strict do we need to be regarding carbs from veggies? For example, I like to have a really big salad, with tuna and olive oil. will carrots (which are relatively high in carbs as compared to lettuce, tomatoes, etc) count gainst my carb allotment for the meal? Or, is it that because they are veggies with lots of fiber, does hta tnegate the “carb effect”? If veggies are stil something to watch out for, are there others that I should be aware of?
Along the same lines, I read a nutrition label with the following info: total calories = 140 Total fat = 4.5 gms (x 9 calories=45) Total carbs = 24 (x 4 calories=96) Total protein = 7 gms (x 4 calories=28). So by my calculations that should be about 170 calories. there are 5 gms of fiber–does vthat men you subtract 20 calories, which brings it within the 10% margin of error (up or down) that the FDA allows on nutrition labels? Has anyone else noticed this, or am I the only anal one?
