I have been eating 50g extra carbs outside of my workout nutrition. It’s usually oatmeal.
I decided to eat 2 lbs of veggies a day. (Based on an experiment that Shugart did with 4lbs.) Also I wanted to eat 1 lb of beans a day. (Earlier this week article said beans are so low on GI they should count as more veggies). So in theory thats 3 lbs of veggies a day to shoot for.
My question is do all these extra carbs and calories count or not?
Some people discard all veggies as counting , but do calories in fiber not count? What about the 50g of carbs from beans left over even after I subtract the fiber? Do these calories and carbs not count? Should I only count non fiber carbs in beans and veggies? Can I consider these completely free foods? Should I drop my morning oatmeal to offset the extra food?
Eating that volume of extra food gives me about 75g carbs once fiber is subtracted out, so whether or not to count it would have an effect on my diet.
