Mark Wahlberg obviously grew up with the notion that blacks and other minorities are inferior to him. By starting a career in the public eye, of course he had to act and think ‘‘proper’’. Otherwise, how else would he bring food on the table?

I have a few friends that say racist things then you see them with black people and they say stuff like “He’s alright though”…and they seem to be honest there…meaning they do like that black guy.

I did and yes you can change but it takes a conscious effort.
It is odd in the North how segregated we are generally. I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit and yet there were only three African Americans in my highschool. Sure it is getting better but it still saddens me it is not more diverse in the rural area I live.
