Notice a trend in all those pictures? The guys start with defined abs then they are gone and they just look a little bit chubbier.
I thought the bodybuilding forum was better than this

So it’s all about skinny guys keeping their abs year round and not having any muscle?
It’s just easier to put him on ignore man. I learned that about 2 years ago haha. Dude’s a complete tool.
That criticism, when applied to the photos originally posted in this thread, is valid. Those people seemed to get fatter without any appreciable muscle gain.

It’s not nessecarilly about keeping your abs year round but if you’re going to gain enough bodyfat to cover those abs you better add a butt load of muscle as well… The guys who’s before photos are in question did not do this.

^ I’ll be honest greg, I don’t even know what pictures you guys were talking about. I just know from my time on this website that “opetha” is a troll for the most part.

^^first of all, LOL @ your avi. WTF? Haha

Secondly, I don’t know what page the pics are on but there were 3 or 4 very Unimpressive before and afters from SS users.

None of them would ever go up on online if SS was my program but that’s just me.

its Optheta thank you very much, and really because I am a little mean and dickish I’m a troll?

Regardless, I think I can some up this thread. If you want to look like a BB then train like a BB.

/thread.

I think you can get more out of your hormone production focusing on big movements and finishing with some pump…
^^ Do you realize that this is virtually the EXACT same advice that the guys you are arguing against have suggested?
Wolf nipple chips
get em while they’re hot
they’re lovely

Speaking of Rip, as far as I know he has become a running gag on Pendlay’s forum. Apparently, he recommended at some point (still is?) that olympic weightlifters should squat low bar+hip drive instead of the common high-bar+upright style.

Not sure if he actually did make that recommendation, but if true he is indeed a joke.

Hope this is helpful info…haha
Videos of Kolokov coming out of a snatch show a head position, hip movement and back angle that are very similar/identical to that of a low bar back squat. To say that there is no carry over would be wrong.

But at the same time, I would say someone who can only press that much should probably spend some time doing some basic athletic work/playing sports before they start lifting again.

Fuck that noise. There is no prerequisite for lifting.
I must respectfully disagree.

There should be some prerequisites for lifting. If I could do it all again I’d spend a few weeks (omg not bodybuilding) doing bodyweight stuff and cleaning up my diet. When I first started lifting I couldn’t bench the 25 lb dbs. I recently ditched a training partner that wanted to bounce 135 off his chest every day, then sit on a bench near the db rack for the rest of the time. If I started doing pushups he’d laugh at that pussy shit.

oh and to add to the discussion, SS left me with shoulder imbalances for YEARS bro. I’ve had 3 shoulder surgeries, a robotic anakin skywalker arm put in, and do lateral raises 3x a week, but still there is just no hope for my aesthetics ever recovering. We really need to help these noobs! Don’t let impressionable young kids do SS. I wish my parents got me started on whey protein instead of breast milk.

When you combine newbie gains with nailing technique, they will see their lifts sky rocket under the right conditions.
When I started training with my best friend (who was enormous, but untrained) I basically just coached him on technique and cues and let him pretty much max out every week lol. It worked for his noob gains. There is no program in the world that would have gotten him as many pounds on his total that fast. After that he started 5/3/1.

That was several months ago. Pretty soon here I think we’re gonna write an ebook: “How to Go from Nothing to a 405 Bench in 6 Months or Less!” “-If I can do it, any 6’7” 300lb person can!"

I can’t tell if you are intentionally ignoring the sarcasm in his post in order to make your own joke in some sort of sarcasm inception or if you didn’t notice it.

Guess it’s just a ‘stupid’ day for just finish cutting myself putting cream cheese on a bagel

^^^The hallmark of good satire is leaving people questioning whether or not it was true. Though, it is remarkably easy when mixed with the ACTUAL retarded statements made in this thread that people came by honestly.

How much you curl with that arm, brah?

I prefer Off the Wall to Thriller.
Some people say cucumbers taste better pickled.

The concept of “prerequisites for lifting” is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard, lol. People are going off the deep end with this shit…

Just been my experience with training beginners. There is a vast difference in the capabilities of those with a sports background and those without. Dave Tate spoke about it here as well

"A raw novice’s time would be better spent doing bodyweight training. You should be able to perform 100 push-ups, minimum, before even approaching a bench press. Add in pull-ups, lunges, and the other bodyweight staples to complete the program.

After a decent base of bodyweight strength has been developed, I’d next perform a sensible linear progression routine until respectable strength levels are achieved. 5/3/1 by my friend Jim Wendler and Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe would fit the bill perfectly, with assistance work programmed to target any emerging weak points in size and strength.

However, after a certain threshold of development â?? say a 1.5 x bodyweight bench press, a 2 x bodyweight squat, and a 2.5 x bodyweight deadlift â?? it’s time to step it up."

And etc. Perhaps not your experience with training new lifters, but definitely mine.
