You guys forget that MMA organizations do drug tests. He would have to come off the juice. Couple that with him training for MMA and not for strongman and his strength advantage would be nullified. We would see a much smaller and weaker Pudz and although he would be entertaining to watch, he really would be an average heavyweight in my opinion.
Out of all martial arts athleticism is most beneficial in wrestling. Brocks double is like a tackle and he can get away with it because he is so athletic.
GSP’s athleticism comes into play just as much, if not more so, than Brock’s, but I don’t hear a bunch of people saying that a strongman is going to walk in and overpower his way to victory over gsp. It’s ludicrous.
Not even close Brock outweighs his opponent by a huge margin. As of now GSP is far more skilled than Brock will ever be, GSP can mix it up. Brock as of now throws straight punches, eats punches, tackles, holds and punches.

GSP may be able to execute a greater variety of takedowns, but when talking about just wrestling, he is nowhere near Lesnar, or any other collegiate wrestler. These guys have been wrestling since they were five or six years old! GSP only started wrestling during his MMA career. In terms of COMPLETE wrestling knowledge, he is not skilled. In a wrestling match, Koscheck or Fitch would dominate him. His wrestling knowledge is functional for MMA, not pure wrestling. Saying that he has more skill at wrestling than a D1 National Champ is ignorant.

Ignorant is that why the Canadian National team wanted him to wreslte in the Olympics. Big Fucks like Brock are far less skilled than smaller fighters.
Okay, since we’re on the subject of people rolling over to MMA…see, I remember a post Xen wrote (link?) where he said that every sport is just all about dominating physically over somebody, whether it’s basketball, golf, or whatever. He mentioned that MMA fighting is the closest thing to an actual fight that brings the whole “dominating you” philosophy closer to reality. (Xen, correct me if I’m wrong)
So…I remember watching one of the fights where Shaq, Kobe, and 50 cent were there as spectators. Let’s talk about 50 cent for a second. When the camera shot his face I was thinking to myself…"mmmh, what’s going on in his mind? He’s a cocky motherfucker (like most in his business) and he’s in good shape too. Maybe he should go into the ring and see if he can hold up a candle. I just want to see his face get smashed. OR…would he somehow hold a candle? Brock surprised the hell out of a lot of people. Furthermore, why aren’t more WWE wrestlers stepping up to the plate, knowing now that it is slightly more possible to do well?
I would like to see athletes in other sports have some fun with MMA. I would LOVE to see Shaq get in there. LOL. Yes, it would be a circus and MMA might get a black eye (or just Shaq would). For example, I really loved when Jose Canseco tried to box what’s his bucket, and talked about going into MMA if it went well (which it didn’t).

But he needs to compete in this years WSM first.
I’m fairly sure he’s retired from WSM.
WHAT!!!

WSM is in less than a month I think and Marsuiz is confirmed as far as everyone knows.

Yes, someone who had the chance to wrestle for Canada in the Olympics isn’t a skilled wrestler at all.

Check out TMZ.com today to see Shaq box against De LaHoya. Shaq is obviously huge, but he would get owned severly in an actual MMA fight.

That is what i thought, All I keep hearing and reading is Poundstone is looking to make a run and knock off Pudz.

Athleticism often trumps skill in sports where there is a weight class, MMA being the perfect example, but also this is seen in amateurs - refer to high school or middle school wrestling. Lesnar vs Mir for example. While Pudz is no Lesnar or Mir, he is also no amatuer. Regardless of his level, I’m sure he will first go against someone with a similar level of experience, and he will crush them.
If he performs well in his preliminary test, then it will be fair to ask how he would do against UFC level, or top 10 level competitors. If he proves to have a certain (“relatively high”*) level of overall skill, then his strength and the ability to maneuver that mass will more than likely earn him the victory.
*“relatively high” refers to the athlete having a requisite level of ground and standing defense and offense
You think GSP, who’s been wrestling for 5-6 years and did not wrestle as a child, has more knowledge/skill in wrestling AS A WHOLE, than a collegiate wrestler who’s been wrestling since he was a toddler?
No way. He’s skilled with the aspects of wrestling that apply to his game, like takedowns, but if he were to have a wrestling match with a legitimate college wrestler, he would get teched.
And he was someone who was invited to try out for the national team, which in no way guarantees him a spot in any level of national competition.
If Pud has to come off the juice its going to hit him hard.
You all realize hes been on for a long time for strongman.
AS IS, in his strong man form, he would crush almost anyone else in his weight class.
It would be like trying to fight a tractor. Talk all you want about speed, conditioning, agility, footwork, whatever…no one is going to win against a fucking John Deer.
Your only hope would be a foot/ankle lock or something, you would have to target a weak joint. Arm bars and such wouldent even work, he could pull out of it.
What kind of injuries has Pudz had in the past? Strongman competitors collect herniated discs and bicep tears and pec rips that may slow them down in a fight

If anyone knows Polish this is his website the news seems to have a few things regarding MMA from google translator but it’s hard to tell exactly wth it says.

That is pretty retarded thinking, BJ Penn started BJJ late yet I bet his knowledge is far and above most black belts.
