I am currently getting ready for a show in 12 weeks. When I go out on the weekends I have to do something to have fun. I cant drink because of the carbs, If I smoke one hit of Herb once a week will that effect my progress?

Drinking and drugs have nothing to do with fun, you can go out and have fun with out them. You sound like you are serious about what you do, if that is the case I would think you could resist the urge to smoke or drink at least until your show is over. As for performance I know that drinking can throw off your body chemistry for up to a entire week depending on how much you drank, not to mention the issue with carbs and calories. I am sure the marijuana may not seem bad, no calories and all, but it will mess up the bodies chemistry regardless of whether it is one hit or more. So the question is whats more important to you your competition? or a few of evenings of partying?

Good as gold bro. Won’t hurt your diet in fact will relax u and help with keeping cortisol levels down. Be carefull for the munchies though! Satisfy them with lean protein foods only…no CARBS!

One hit of herb a week? You must be an high intensity advocate. I would recommend either German Volume (10 hits,hold for ten seconds each) or Westside Bong Training (three small hits every thirty seconds, blow it out really fast).
Actually, smoking marijuana will have no effect on your progress as long as you still eat like you normally would and get enough sleep. Saying this herb will retard your gains is like saying that Smilax will make you get big. To those who say that marijuana depresses testosterone levels or elevates estrogen, well, I would like to see a study that shows that marijuana-smoking trainees did not achieve as much hypertrophy/strength as a nonsmoking control group when all other factors are equal.


What’s worse for you than smoking a joint and watching a movie or having a beer once a week is going to sweaty, smoky clubs, getting 2 hours of cardio on the dance floor, not eating for seven hours and staying up all night. If that’s what you do when you go out, stay in and smoke doobies instead.

If I were you I’d wait till the show was over and have a “weed/pizza fest.” However, it has been shown that marijuanna’s testosterone lowering effects are rather acute. So, it will take around 5-9 or more joints per week to have a significant effect (Kolodny, et al 1974). However, in response to an earlier post, a reduction of testosterone in healthy lean young men, regardless of what causes the suppression, WILL lead to a decrease in lean mass, strength, and an increase in fat mass (J Endocrinology & Metabolism 1998 Jun;83 pages 1886-92.) Now, that one joint, on the weekend, probably won’t hurt much, since the suppression seems to be pretty swift and in comparison to alcohol, is much better in terms of endocrinological and consequently metabolic effects. So, if you must blaze up, do so in moderation and you shouldn’t have any problems. The “munchies” being an obvious exception. :slight_smile:

I currently smoke bong loads before and after training. I am doing the German Body comp program combined with the fat fast diet. I think it makes the workout more fun. I’m also taking 6 MD6 a day.

Scarface, you should be able to find a good majority, but not all, via public medline. You should at least be able to see the abstracts. Usually, the full text version requires some sort of online subscription to that particular journal. Obviously, the full text versions cover a lot more material than the abstracts. The free abstracts will help, but they only give you the major findings in the study. So, you may miss some important things by viewing the abstracts only.

I can’t see how one hit of herb once a week could have any negative effect on anything. The only real problem is keeping it to one hit once a week.

Dude, if you want to smoke weed, go ahead. I seen Arnold and Lou Ferigno smoking a doobie in an old Mr. O video. If it does raise estrogen levels at 9 joints a week, so what. That’s nine joints of primo shit by yourself, and I assume you will be sharing. I smoked weed almost everyday the first year I worked out and gained 50 lbs without AAS. I think the appetite increase is probally benefitial.
