Maple Syrup Strength (littlesleeper)

I’m so jealous that you can do these standing

@TrainForPain - Me too! I’ll be sure to post my thoughts on it if it ends up working out.

@littlelee - Haha! It’s going… we had a lowball offer earlier and have had a bunch of showings but no real bites as of yet. Open house this Sunday so hopefully that attracts more than just tire kickers.

@kleinhound - Are you sure you can’t do one? I never really practiced them or anything, first time I tried one I did one and was very surprised!
I should mix these in a little more often. I get DOMS in my abs from just 2-3 standing ab wheel reps. Seems like a good bang for my buck.

I’ll film an attempt

Then I went through this little routine.

I’ve been noticing some tight hip flexors and pelvic tilt so this should help.

I was starving all day today so there may have been a little junk tossed in on top of my usual meals…

I mean sure but it’s not really going to push me to succeed haha

Well I’ve hoped for something else than success

Hi mate, if you’d like to try that corrective exercise program as a warm up I’d highly recommend it. Can be done as a stand alone program or pre lift/exercise. Just dial the sets down to one set of everything when using as a warm up. Should unlock your hips a bit and allow you to fire up glutes and hams a lot more.

Let me know how you get on with it.

@Iceman44 - Thanks! I’m hoping it will correct some issues, can’t hurt.

Well, yesterday was supposed to be squats, but I was feeling pretty beat up so I took a day off and went for a nice long walk and helped my Dad work on the hen house. We just hatched 8 chicks in the incubator (out of 40 eggs, only 8 hatched…rooster must not be doing his job!), and have another 30 chicks on order. So we are expanding our coop to accommodate.

Some development on the home buy/sell situation…
So we went to look at the house that we had a handshake private deal with to see how their work was coming along and try to narrow in on a price (the best they could do a month ago was give us a ballpark of $275-300k).
The house looks very nice, they have done a great job. There would still be some work to do when we move in, no garage, and only ~6’ ceiling height in the basement under the bulkhead. As far as my basement gym goes, this would mean no standing overhead movements, and would possibly even limit chinups.
Then they dropped the bomb that they now want $320k from us…FFS.

So now it looks like we will be severing a lot off the farm and building a house. This will likely be a better route to go at the end of the day, but a lot of added work on our end. Land surveys, well drilling, applying for severance from local council, finding and working with a builder, etc, etc. BUUT we will end up with exactly what we want. Oh, I’m thinking 9’ basement ceiling height which will be sweet.

So this was Sunday when we found out that they were going to jack up the price of the house, and then we spoke to our Realtor and basically said we aren’t in a huge hurry to sell anymore, because we have lots of work to do before we will have another place to live. Then last night we got an offer on the house that we couldn’t refuse! We are trying to push the date back a little bit from May 15 to June 15 closing, but looks like we just sold our house!

As of June 15 we will officially be homeless… Looks like we will be moving in with my parents for a couple months while our house is being built!

TLDR;

  • Starting to feel beat up, took an non-prescribed rest day
  • Poor success rate on hatching chicks
  • No longer buying house we intended on as they jacked up the price significantly
  • Sold our house and will be kicked out as of June 15
  • Homeless, while building new house

I’ts more work, but at least you can get what you want in the house!

thats great you’ve finally sold it, and a good deal at that.

Congratulations with the sale Sleeper
It’s going to be great to build your own house, you’ll get exactly what you want.

Congrats on selling the house! Boooo on being homeless (or living with the parents).
You must be happy though that your house does not have to be perfect all the time, and you can live in it like a real family once again!

@duketheslaya - Thanks! Yes, I am looking forward to designing the house to our tastes. Ensuite bathroom, high basement ceilings, open concept layout, BIG garage, etc.

@mortdk - Thank you, it is exciting but quite daunting right now looking at the long list of things that need to be done before we can even break ground!

@littlelee - Thanks, fortunately living with the parents (Dad and his GF) isn’t bad at all (other than feeling bad for inconveniencing them). They have a huge house for the two of them and we aren’t in each other’s way at all. But, yes, we’re SOOO excited to live like normal people again and not have the house being perfect! We also miss our dog! (which we shipped off to live with my Mom for a couple weeks because she is looking for a second dog anyways)

Thanks for the support peeps!

I was a little surprised with this. All 5 sets of 8 at 345lbs felt very strong. Misgrooved a couple reps which made them a hair more difficult, but I am feeling quite strong right now, which is a rare feeling.

Next week we will be moving back into our house for a month and a half so I can get back to a little less rushed training sessions. The last week or two before my meet I will need to find a gym to go to in town for my last two peak weeks because we will be homeless! Definitely not ideal, but it is what it is.

It has been awhile since I’ve stepped on a scale, interested to see where my weight is currently at. I don’t feel like I’ve gained much weight, but probably haven’t lost any either. If I’m not within 10lbs of the 198lb class a week out, I’ll just compete with the 220s. If I am 10lbs from 198lbs I’ll do a water cut and hope that gets me there! …it would likely be valuable to do a water cut sometime before the meet to get an idea of how much/how easily I drop weight.

If I were to venture a guess, I’d say I’m around the 210-211lb mark at the moment, so if I can stay out of our Easter chocolate pile I should be ok for a few extra lbs to be shed.
