No, I’m not gay. If its really that big of a deal to you, yeah, I’ve hooked up with a few guys. Really didn’t get into it. My sexuality falls somewhere between “not straight” and “not gay”. We’ll go with bi, I guess, if you need a label. I prefer the term “stray”.

If its just speaking positive of masculinity, why aren’t you being negative about male teachers or men who raise children (stereotypically unmasculine things)?

How are either of those two unmasculine?

Why do you seem to think homosexuals are some protected class of society? If they want equality they aren’t, nobody is protected from criticism. Get over it.

Both of those are stereotypically feminine. The same way wearing eyeliner is stereotypically feminine.

Please, explain to me what is unmasculine about wearing a pink shirt.

hah. At least you admit (through thoughtlessness, I’m sure) that this thread is a criticism of homosexuals (masked as defense of “traditional masculinity”)

What’s wrong with straight men thinking man-crushes are wierd? Whether or not I have tolerance for homosexuals has nothing to do with the fact that I still think it is wierd. I think people who dress up in furry animal costumes and have sex are wierd, much like I think it is wierd when two men have sex. Does this make me a bad person then, lol?

I have always hated the fact that tolerance is interpreted as thinking something is cool and totally within the norm. Tolerance just means you don’t hate the people you think are wierd. As defined in the dictionary, tolerance: 2. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one’s own. No where in that definition does it say I can’t think people who act differently than me aren’t peculiar.

In fact, I would argue you are an opinionphobe (new word I just created) CappedAndPlanIt, and are unwilling to accept people’s differing views.

Well said.

Seeing traditional masculinity as a positive is great. Putting others down because they dont fit into your definition of “traditionally masculine” when the only traits/actions you complain about are correlated with homosexuality indicates homophobia, to me.

If it has nothing to do with sexuality, why don’t I hear any bitching about things that are both unmasculine and not correlated with being gay?

Are you saying that only gay guys wear pink, eyeliner and women’s pants?

These are things only correlated to homosexuality?

Doofus, if you haven’t noticed, people are debating why this is becoming MAINSTREAM, not whether gay people wear this. Are you that dense…or just SOOOO sensitive that every post has to be about you?

You’re so vain…I bet you think this post is about you.

Don’t you?
wow. you need things spelled out for you. a lot.

this thread

is about

people bitching

that

“gay stuff”

is

becoming

“mainstream”.

Can you understand that? I already know they were complaining about these things becoming mainstream, the only problem they have with these things is that they associate them with homosexuals.

This thread became about homosexuality because of you. Nowhere did anyone here express homophobic views, simply views that did not like what was discussed in the article.

You made the article about homosexuality when you started calling everyone homophobic, we don’t have to like what was stated in that “man-crush” article or the “dolls” article, and that does not make anyone homophobic. This thread was about the articles until you made it about sexual orientation, congratulations.

Nobody attacked homosexuals, you however thought they needed defending. Why was this? Are all gay people inherently feminine? That sounds like a stereotype, how dare you suggest such things.

Whats wrong with it being associated to homosexuals?

Foot ball is associated to men, so are power tools and beer. Whats wrong with that?

Its people like you who single out homosexuals. They are just like you or you. Why cant you just let them be?

Steriotypeing is something every normal person has to deal with, why cant they? Let them be normal!

CappedAndPlanIt stop comeing here.

You know how I know you’re gay? You quote Carly Simon lyrics.

Janet Jackson remade that song.

Everybody liked Janet Jackson.

You’re gay for knowing the original artist…and typing it correctly.
So, who looks more homophobic here? The guys who express a bit of disdain for an article-
or the guy who hooks up with other guys, has to make up ambiguous descriptions for his sexual orientation, and becomes defensive about the topic?

Don’t you?

Was also used in the song Starfuckers by Trent Reznor / NIN.

+200 Test points for me.

Wow… can you stop whining? This thread was about what is manly and what is not… not what is typified as gay or not in society. And ok if dressing in pink is considered to be a homosexual trait… then… so what? If you wear pink and are gay, you’re gay, and that’s your choice, and you’re done. If you wear pink and your straight, you’re not gay, and that’y your choice, and your done.

You just seem to be very insecure with your sexuality and peoples’ perception of you. Stop whining.

In my opinion, the underlying reason for the posters complaining about what they did was that they associate them with homosexuality.

I’ve explained (ad nausem) why I took their comments to be homophobic in nature. Re-read my previous posts.

Granted, I may have been out of line to single anyone out as being (a) homophobe. That was wrong of me, and I apologize.

However, I stand by my opinion that the views they expressed were homophobic in nature.

Nope. I have every right to express my opinion, regardless of popularity.

Get over it, sissy.

Does anyone remember those little pink rubber monsters called M.U.S.C.L.E.S.?

There were like 100 of them to collect, and they were all like weird looking aliens, or lucha libre freaks, or crosses between things like spray bottles and people, and they didn’t have moving arms or legs.

I loved those little things, I remember doing all types of crazy stuff with them, all involving fire.

Toys today suck compared to the toys I played with when I was younger. Same with the cartoons.

Sometimes I think this is the only bodybuilding forum that has to take this crap.

If you’re gay, whatever, be gay. But don’t come on here start telling me that it’s ok for heterosexual men to wear dresses, put on makeup, and play with dolls.

Fucking bullshit.

No, this thread is about people complaining that things they see as gay are becoming mainstream.

I’ve already explained that many things that have been considered (within our society) “unmanly” are not met with such resistance because they are not associated with homosexuals.

Just answer this simple question:

Tradionally, in America, men worked and suppored a family financially while a woman stayed home, took care of the house, and raised the kids. So, the (manly) thing to do was support your family and the (feminine) thing to do was stay home.

However, today, since some women have lucrative careers, some men stay home, raise children, wash dishes, do laundry, etc etc. Being as this is typically something women do (the same way wearing eyeliner is typically something women do), why aren’t people complaining that its “unmanly”?

You keep asserting that the only logic in play here is “Men should not do unmanly things.”

But men do “unmanly” things all the time, and no one gets all upset over it.

I have a man-crush on Mike Rowe. Whatever.

Why isn’t it ok?

What is inherently “not ok” with a heterosexual man doing any or all of those things?

I understand why it comes off like my message is “You have to accept this.”

Its not, though. No one here has to accept anyone doing anything.

What I take issue with, though, is someone being against something for one reason but calling it something else.

If any of the posters would just admit that “Yeah, I’m uncomfortable with it because I associate it with homosexuality and that makes me uncomfortable”, I would respect that persons viewpoint a lot more than the current “No its not about sexuality you’re just making stuff up!”

Besides, if they have a right to speak out against men wearing eyeliner, why dont I have a right to speak out against them speaking out against men wearing eyeliner?
