Making the Youngbloods Keep Up with Me

I am 39, 19 years in the Infantry currently in Afghanistan. The average age of the Soldiers I am in charge of is 25. My goal is to make the youngbloods keep up with me, not the other way around.

Currently 6’1" 215lbs about 22% bodyfat, losing fat is hard on a diet of deployment food.
5RM deadlift 335#
5RM squat 295
5RM Bench 225
1RM press 180
1RM power clean 200

Hoping to add pounds to my lifts, and lean out a little.

On day 5 of the 10000 Kettelbell Swing Challenge because I am stupid. I think I am going to make this a prerequiste for anyone wanting to go Ranger School. I so wanted to LOM today. 5 more days then back to some regular training.

Feel for you. I was running all over the Balkans when I was 39, AF pararecue. I went the full 30. Hard to keep up with the younguns but you can do it. Your lifts are looking good, power clean is notable. We only had mre’s that packed about 3000 calories each, not all good, so I hope the foods a little better than that. Welcome and stay safe.

Day 6 of the KBS challenge. 6,000 so far. I got to finish this just because everyone expects me to gas out.

Most of my Soldiers think I am nuts. I would tend to agree with them

Keep it up.

Will be supporting you.

Nice work. Show them what you can do. Thanks for your service to our nation.

Day 7 down. 3 more to go.

I am 14 years older than the XO, he cant keep up with me. Makes me feel good to see him sweat.

Crush it and therefore by extention; them.

Day 9 done. one more day then back to my regular program.

10,000 KBS in the bag.

Day1-210lbs and 22% BF
Day10- 205lbs and 20% BF

still would like to lose about 5% more BF.

Awesome work! Stay safe over there. Never been to Afghanistan, but deployed to Iraq in ‘08. Congrats on smokin’ the XO, LTs need put in their place on occasion.
