Making a Deadlift Challenge - Opinions Wanted

Worked up to 485 for my deadlift workout today but just wanted to see what 370 x 10 feel like, I think with straps and fresh legs I could at least double it

Contest is for humans only sorry. Aliens from whatever super high gravity planet you are from can make their own damn contest.

I would like to sign up for this as well. I hit 405x15 at 192lbs a while ago (touch and go though) so this should be a fun challenge. Complete noob question though, you said 181 is a 425 lift and 198 is a 445 lift, so does that mean the weigh ins go from 181-197 for the 425lb lift (putting me in the 425 deadlift category)?

Thanks!

Your in!

You can calculate exact body weights and bar weights, so you don’t have to fit into any classes at all! The list is just common weight classes. I’ll provide a simple calculator on a webpage you can use to figure out the exact bar weight for your exact bodyweight.

All that’s left is loading up the bar and banging out some reps

Nice! Thats actually pretty awesome, I was just thinking that the biggest hurdle to overcome would be the weight classes since I’m just now cutting for the comp over a month ago. This is really well set up B Money, much props

No wimmenz?

Should I bother signing up if I know I can’t win? If so then I’ll gladly participate. As long as it doesn’t bother you that I don’t have a chance in hell of beating some of these lighter guys who are way stronger pound for pound lol (or maraudermeat the human mastodon either). I’d be doin the reps with 445.

Of course I don’t mind! We plan on having a random entry prize too. But join in just for fun, should be a good time!

Efeguwewe for the win.

I have my money on him…for I trained him for awhile last year. 2nd going to Maruadermeat.

I’ve done 500 x 4 conventional without bouncing after squatting sets of 425 x 6 just before that at 168lbs a couple months ago. I just changed my workout to having deadlift on a seperate day for the first time in my life. I did 505 x 3 last workout which wasnt one all out as it was just apart of a workout scheme not a till failure set. From how it felt, I would say I’m prolly good for 510 x 5 at 170lbs. Im cutting down to 165 so if i get there I think i could do 405 for at least a solid 15, I cant say I would know how the rest would feel since I never have done over 10 reps of deadlifts in my life

And thank you for the compliment

Jesus now the pressure is on, I feel like I’m going to disappoint - there’s a lot of good lifters on the roster

Also - Hey Rick!!

You would be the first one!

Well in powerlifting obviously you would do the 198 weight because you didn’t make 181.

But I think he said he was going to make a calculator or something so the weight would be basically normalized for everyone. I’m not sure what kind of calculation he will use, but based on your weight it’s safe to assume you’d be somewhere between 425 and 430 I think.

I’ll hook you up with a calculator to calculate exact weights. Your bar weight would be 430.

Announcement:

Starts 6/30/12
Deadline 7/13/12
(exactly two weeks of video submission period)

Tomorrow, you will be able to overview the full rules, have access to the video submission page, and the calculator for calculating your weights specific to your current body weight.

Please, wait until tomorrow to start taking video! So you can read over the rules and avoid disqualification for any reason.

Competition is rolling, I sent out PM’s but not sure if they got to everybody. Let me know!

Smaller guys will take this. Big guys have to do like 50 % more work than the small guys for the same reps and when the difference in max strength it taken into consideration from the start the work capacity doesn’t noticeably increase with the increase in bodyweight. But I don’t also believe there is any way to make this fair for everyone since there is so little data and experience with this kind of stuff.

I wouldn’t be so sure… a lot of heavier guys say this, but…

Think, there are a few guys in the mid 200’s, pulling 800lbs raw. These guys are also relatively lean and in good conditioning.

At that weight, these guys have to pull 500 or slightly under. For an 800+lb deadlifter in decent conditioning, 500 is like a toy.

Take in to consideration this…

A 600 raw pull at 160’s is just as rare as a 800lb raw pull in the 260’s.

160lber is looking to use ~400lbs
260lber is looking to use ~500lbs

Very curious to see how this will turn out! I have no idea what will happen.

PS: may be a good decision if your interested to sign in, and make a post/subscribe to the thread so you don’t forget to put in your video submission.
