Mag 10 Questions

I have some questions concerning my goals on Mag 10. I am going to start taking the 3 month Mag 10, Tribex 500, and M cycle soon and I wanted to lay out the foundation before I start.

My main goal is to get shredded but also add some muscle at the same time. On each Mag 10 cycle I would like to lose about 5 to 10 lbs. of body fat, but also add some LBM. I am not looking to gain 20 lbs. on each Mag 10 cycle so I don’t want to consume 4000 to 4500 calories a day.

I am 5' 10", 180-190 lbs. and I would like to know how much protein, carbs, fat and calories a day to reach my specific goal. I also would like to know what is the max amount of cardio I can do on the Mag 10 a week.

On the other hand, on the second 2 week cycle of Tribex and M I want to maintain what LBM I gained while still shredding body fat so how much protein, carbs, fat and calories should I consume and how much cardio can I do on that cycle? I plan to take a thermogenic the whole 12 weeks.

Could Bill please answer these questions? Thanks a lot,
Tom

I’m in the same boat as you, but as has often been said on this site, it’s difficult, if not impossible to gain lean body mass without gaining fat unless your diet and workout are perfectly aligned (great genetics are often a big help as well). My suggestion is to first off, keep a food log during your first cycle with MAG-10, and see how you look/feel, moderating your carbohydrate intake accordingly. I suggest moderating your carbohydrate intake as the primary variable because you should always keep your protein intake fairly high to avoid losing the advantages that MAG-10 has to offer (or even worse, losing valuable muscle you’ve worked so hard already to gain).

The diets on this site are designed pretty well, and you can modify them according to your needs to achieve what you want. Everything comes down to careful record-keeping and strict workouts. There are no shortcuts to a great physique.

My approach would be to have alternating fat loss and mass-gaining weeks, with mass-gaining weeks being no more than 2 weeks in a row.

Now, 10 lb of fat loss in 12 weeks total means
that about half these weeks would have to be fat loss weeks (assuming 2 lb per week fat loss). It could be that you could achieve 3 lb per week fat loss, which would be 4 weeks.
But if the cycle plan you have is two cycles of 2 on / 4 off, and this kind of fat loss would probably be while using MAG-10, then all your MAG-10 use would be during dieting weeks and mass gains would be small.

So I might look at it as being where the first cycle was fat-loss only, and the second allowed some mass gain.

So in this case, let’s say:

Weeks 1 and 2, “on,” 8 cal/day per lb LBM,
with one gram protein/day per lb LBM and the rest from carbs and fats, preferably according to John Berardi’s concept of principally P+C in the earlier part of the day, and P+F in the later part, and with consumption of at least 6 grams per day of combined DHA/EPA (which by the way you can get from one small tin of sardines packed in water.)

Weeks 3-6, “off.” Increase calories to 12 per lb LBM per day and continue with fat loss.

Second cycle: Same except for the “on” weeks, 2 grams protein/day per lb LBM, calories about 750/day over your usual maintenance,
and this time skip the cardio (it could be done all other weeks.)

You could take thermogenics all 12 weeks though personally I prefer 5 days on, 2 days off, but it’s not really necessary to take the days off.

Now, that’s how I would do it… on the other hand, John Berardi has had some exceptional success with simultaneous fat loss and muscle gain with MAG-10, though on only 2 subjects so far as I know. Actually, he has me pretty amazed with that. But since the alternating approach is much more proven at this point, it’s what I’d recommend.

Mr. Roberts are there any benefits to using splitting a one dose of Mag-10 into two seperate doses? LIke 4.5 ml morn… 4.5 ml night? the reason is that I wake up at 6 am on mon.weds. and fridays and on tues.thurs.sat. and sund I usually wake up around 1p.m. so the half life of the product is hard to keep up with since its hard to take it at the same time on different days…

I wouldn’t worry about taking MAG-10 at different times on different days due to your schedule, as the duration of action seems long enough to cover that. But if you wanted to split the dose there might be a slight improvement in efficiency from doing that (possibly not noticeable but it couldn’t hurt, anyhow.)

I believe it was previously suggested to use only 1/2 doses daily of Mag-10 while on a cutting cycle. Is this still the recommended protocol, or would using a full dose yield better retention of lean mass while on the diet as you recommend (cals=BWx8)?

I asked this question a while back and remember Mr. Roberts saying that the half dose is only because of money reasons or simply because half a dose is enough to retain muscle… the full dose can and will help more but not largely different… it would almost be a waste to use a full dose. But if you can afford it or money is not an issue by all means do it.

When on the dieting phase, how many meals should be P+C including the postworkout shake? You said at lest 6 grams of epa\dha is that all the fat you would take for the day? Given those low calorie levels: thus 180lb lbm= 1440 cals
180g protein,100gcarbs,35g fats. If using Androsol instead of Mag 10 how would you adjust the calorie levels?

Bill, where did you get the DHA/EPA info on sardines? Out of all the places that I checked the highest I seen was 1390mg EPA and 1140mg DHA for a 100gram serving.

Brian, I’d like to think I was right (because it would work out great that one can of sardines sufficed to obtain 6 grams of combined DHA/EPA) and my basis was:

Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) | National Agricultural Library cgi-bin/nut_search.pl

combined with a claim elsewhere giving
an alleged high percentage of the total
fats being DHA/EPA.

However, if their percentage (which was something like 1/3 of the total which seems
really high, perhaps unbelievably so) was wrong then my conclusion was wrong. It sounds as if you have a specific figure rather than one relying on a percentage that may not be true.

Thank you for the correction.
