MAG-10 Pulse Fast is Here

It’s about 2:00 and I am definitely crashing. Feel spacey and want to take a nap. Maybe the caffeine earlier was a mistake. Or maybe I need some more.

Still feel “good” in that I am not cranky. I can work, just not at optimum concentration (I retyped most of this short post like about 2 times due to misspellings, wrong word choice, etc).

Not hungry but do feel like I could eat…like I am hypoglycemic but not jittery or ravenous.

Wish I could take a nap but can not…working on a document and then off to next meeting.

Started to feel better about 3:00 as I started to drink the last pulse of Bottle 1. Less spacey, got some energy back. This improved energy level coincided with the pulse but thinking that it was not jsut the pulse. Seemed like a kind of rebound effect, like my body figured out how to get me going again after the 2:00 feeling of crashing.

4:00 took the Alpha-GPC

Hope folks do not mind the frequent updates. If folks prefer I can delete these individual posts after I post a summary tomorrow. Just did not want to lose any information that people might find valuable.

Experiment update:

The full pulse-fast is not something I wanted to do again. I couldn’t see myself doing it every week. I’m sure it would’ve gotten easier, but I have too much on my plate to be waiting for that to happen.

I worked out Monday night then had a big meal. We’re probably talking over 1500 kcal between my shake and the PW meal. I fasted for about 4 hours thereafter, throwing in one shot of MAG-10. Tuesday I pulse-fasted all day. Broke the fast with two FINiBARs, about an hour or so pre-workout. Great workout, set a PR. Ate an obscene amount of food in the post-workout window. High protein, high carb, fat on the low side. Whey-casein blend for the rest of the night, plus a few almonds. Found this after the fact:

This is actually a lot like what John Kiefer has been recommending lately in his articles on EFS and his blog. Skipping breakfast and then multiple “pulses” throughout the day. He doesn’t use pure CH, but rather a blend of whey, casein, CH, and leucine.

I have speculated on this board before that intermittent fasting may improve the effectiveness of the Anaconda protocol. I even volunteered to guinea pig this idea and write an article with my experiences if Biotest wanted to send me some research supplies…the offer still stands, guys :slight_smile:

Interesting to see this was being discussed before the pulse-fast came out.

All told what I did was similar to a 20/4 IF approach. I guess my single giant meal made it similar to the Warrior Diet. I was likely below maintenance. I can see why the Warrior approach didn’t pan out for most. In the future I will likely include a second post-workout meal to get the calories in. But overall, this was much easier to do, and I will likely do it twice a week.

As Stronghold pointed out in the quote, this is similar to Kiefer’s methods, where calories (and carbs) are backloaded. That’s what I’ve been doing. IF and pulse-IF are basically extreme versions of this and will fit in perfectly once or twice a week.

Took the the last two pulses a little early, about 6:30 and 8:30. I had a little hunger when my wife brought pizza home for the family, but not anything I couldn’t handle. I just might eat the leftover pizza for breakfast though!

Anyway, the crash I felt at 2:00 was short lived and I made it through the rest of the day fine. Even did home work with my kids, and still not feeling ravenous. Going to take some ZMA and try to sleep.

All in all, a very good day. Happy with the way this feels with the MAG-10 and Power Drive better than my “poor man” test with the whey and bulk Power Drive ingredients (DMAE/Tyrosine/etc). This was easier and I felt better.

It is weird, I was expecting the concentration to be worse this evening since Bottle #2 has no Power Drive, but it was fine. The Power Drive is almost like an amphetamine kind of buzz (er, so I have been told), and this evening was a little smoother-feeling but still able to concentrate. It is like I needed the Power Drive during the day, but did not need it during the evening. That surprised me. Not sure if it is a carryover effect of taking so much Power Drive, or if somehow your body shifts gears and figures it might as well get what it needs another way. Would love to understand what is really happening at each part of the day, because how things felt definitely changed throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening.

Hey guys sorry if this question has been answered, but i just couldn’t find anybody asking it. So…if this pulse fast was to be done 2x a week, and the off days having loads of good calories and training, would this result in a recomp?

I’m planning to try this out in a few weeks time. Pulsing 2x a week and lots of food. My aim is actually to get huge and ripped(well duh), and i have about 2 months of free time where i can train 2x a day. It sort of goes against all traditional thinking though, such as ‘‘burning fat’’ on pulse days while simultaneously building muscle. Can anyone correct me if i’m wrong? :slight_smile:

Another word for Hydrolyzed is “predigested”…which means the taste will be more or less as vile as you can imagine. I don’t recommend ever drinking this stuff without the flavoring…it might be difficult to get that unflavored taste out of your mind.

I am not a fan of artificial food coloring and flavoring. But especially during the fast, I am going to make things as tolerable as possible.

OK, so here is a summary of my first fast.

First off, the stats:

  • Body weight on 10/27 at 6:00 AM - 183.6 lbs - Waist measurement - 36.5 inches (yeah I know…that’s why I am doing this).

  • Body weight on 10/28 at 6:00 AM - 179.2 lbs - Waist Measurement - 35.5 inches

  • Total reduction of 4.4 lbs and 1 inch off of my waist! Measurements were taken both days before any bodily functions except for peeing.

This is WAY better than my “poor man” test that I did with whey protein and bulk DMAE/Tyrosine/Lecithin/B6

This in my book is a huge success. Now if I can train like a beast the next three days, and gain a little muscle…we’ll see after I do about 16 of these fasts. Next one is Monday.

10/27 6:30 AM Black coffee

Bottle #1 with Power Drive

10/27 7:00 AM First pulse - Used two capfuls of berry flavoring and it still tastes vile.

10/27 7:45 AM Starting to feel pretty good in terms of mood and no hunger.

10/27 8:00 AM Feeling Euphoric, took Alpha-GPC shot

10/27 9:00 AM Second Pulse - Had to make myself finish it the full 400 ml. Just was not hungry.

10/27 10:00 AM, 3 hours into the fast (I guess it’s actually 13 hours in if we start counting from 9:00 PM yesterday) and I feel awesome. Mentally strong, focused, no real hunger.

Having a cafe americano, black (it’s a shot of expresso mixed with hot water). Probably won’t drink the whole thing, but wanting some caffeine for some reason. Will not have any more coffee after this as I want to be able to sleep tonight. Planning to deadlift tomorrow.

10/27 1:00 PM Starting to feel spacey, and a little trace of headache. Hoping the 12:50 (1:00) pulse will clear my head a bit.

Teeth and tongue are coated…thinking I probably should be rinsing my mouth after drinking each pulse, to keep the protein from just sitting there on my teeth.

Added more flavoring…tastes better. thinking 4-6 caps of flavoring is what is needed.

10/28 6:00 AM Coffee - Feeling groggy. Gobbled down some yogurt to get something in my stomach. I did NOT sleep well, which is why I am feeling groggy I think. Woke up at least 3 times and had to pee a lot each time. I think that might be a good thing overall. Growth hormone is released early in sleep cycle, so waking multiple times should cause multiple releases of growth hormone. I guess it depends on how deep each sleep cycle is.

10/28 6:30 AM 36 hours has passed - Had a plate of 3 scrambled eggs, a little grated cheese, large serving of hash browns, 1 slice of toast with non-hydrogenated spread.

10/28 10:00 AM still feeling groggy after second cup of coffee. looking forward to lunch. grabbing a protein shake in between meetings.

10/28 1:30 PM - Had to cut my workout short. Deadlifts only. Felt good but not great. Cardio warm up was hard to get going due to still feeling physically drained. Not a lot of energy today. Had a scoop of Power Drive to help, and also a shot of Alpha GPC but still dragging a little.

10/28 3:30 PM - Had a protein shake after workout, but have not had lunch…to many meetings. Not hungry really. It’s like the fast reset my appetite somehow. I am never like this…usually hungry every 2 hours. Today I am not even thinking about food. I like that. Planning to eat a steak for dinner though :slight_smile:

Day 4 -

One week after my first pulse (doing Mon and Thurs) and this was strangest yet. If on Day 1 I felt like shit then today I felt on top of the world. It has become easer with each pulse. Today I got up at 6.10am and ended up effectively locked in a basement office examining records for almost 6 hours without a break (other than getting the bottles out my bag to pulse). No fatigue, no hunger, fine.

At 8.15pm I went to the gym and completed a standard push workout, and performed well. This was achieved despite the fact I had ingested around 350 kcals that day prior to the workout. This is the first time I’ve done a heavy workout while on a pulse day.

I later noticed I had actually forgotten to take Alpha-GPC. I did start this morning using DAA, and put 3g in the first pulse, otherwise no changes. I also add PSS and glycine to the post-workout pulse. I will now take ZMA and head to bed, hopefully for a sound sleep - which I’ve had following Days 2 & 3.

Yea I don’t like the food coloring and preservatives they added in the flavorings. I added in some stevia it helps.

What do you think about adding a touch of coconut oil on the days of the Pulse diet?

What other supplements are people taking with the MAG-10 Pulse diet? I tried it and I added in a ton of green tea and herbal tea.

Good infor, so what else do you take on the MAG-10 Pulse diet days? I added in lot’s of green tea, some L carnitine and CoQ 10 (not sure if they make sense to take on fasting days? Also I really don’t like the food coloring and preservatives added in the flavoring.

Did my 3rd pulse day and it gets easier every time. I’m finishing up some PeptoPro and adding in leucine and CM that I have. Also, have some orange flavoring left over from SWO. Anyway, even after 2 capfulls, it tastes like ass.

There’s some definite changes going on. Overall, i’m leaning out but the days after the pulse I feel and look full. I love it. I can see this being part of my schedule from here on out. Not having to cook or pack tupperware for work and all that shit is refreshing. My pulse days are leg days. I’m not sure if it’s the diet or the Power Drive but i have energy to burn and plenty of focus. I do feel a bit hypo after the workout but fortunately, i lift late so i crawl into bed and sleep it off.

The only downside was some diarrhea initially but that seems to be tapering off.

I think this plan is just something we have to get used to. As mentioned, it does get easier.

has anyone tried using standard CH? or just drinking it for that matter?

i ordered some (flavored) but still think i may have made a mistake…

I am reluctant to add too many supplements, especially for fat burning. But I wouldn’t have any problem drinking green tea. I drank black coffee. The only other supplement I took was ZMA at bedtime to help me sleep.

good call i might have to try it, without flavouring, it tastes like vomit and all the crap in the flavouring ain’t going down my piehole if i can help it
