Mag-10 and 18 year olds

I’ve been training for about 9 months now for the shotput. I have a year off so I don’t have to worry about NCAA tests. I did use Biotest’s Tribex 500 and Methoxy before. I haven’t finished growing, I have a couple more inches to go. Late bloomer ya know. So anyways my question is when they disclaim that anyone under 18 shouldnt be using this product, is that because we don’t want teens to try it and they get a cough and mommy sues Biotest for 20 mill, or is it because the aromitization of the estrogen bounce back after my cycle will close my growth plates and bones and I will truly stunt my growth?

Yes to your number two.

im ina similar situation… so at what age will we be able to start using products like mag-10??

No rush. As this week’s Atomic Dog said, every teenager thinks that they are the exception and should start steroids or prohormones IMMEDIATELY because they’ve PLATEAUED and are looking for a Magic Bullet.

i havent plateaud but im hearing so many good things about it…

I can’t say I am looking for a magic bullet. A nice edge on the competition would do me good ya know. It’s legal and it’s not hgh which will give me huge intestines and what not. I can say I have plateaued. After training since I was 14 and getting 3 big time set back injuries, I definately feel im in a plateau. I don’t understand how you all hafta look down upon that. The only thing I worry about is my height, I need it. I don’t worry about the after affects of hormone use. If you have ever seen the movie “Blackhawk Down,” when the pilot is held in the custody of the rebel forces, the somalian makes a good point, he says “smoke?”, the pilot replies no, the somalian says “that’s right, you americans dont smoke anymore, you all live healthy long and uninteresting lives.” How true is that?

You’re basing a decision like this on a line from some movie? Give me a break.

Look, the reason we older folks get so pissed off about this issue is that there is no good reason for someone under the age of about 25 to take a steroid or pro-steroid or whatever. There are legitimate medical concerns, and the only factor on the other side of the argument is “I want it now/I want it faster.” Not really much of a choice, when you look at it like that.

And as for your “plateau”, when you’re 20 a plateau means that you’ve stopped growing for the moment. That’s all. When people on this site talk about plateaus, they’re talking about not growing any further after 10 or 20 years of training. So in that case, yeah, androgens could be a legitimate choice.

Are you going to be a world-class shot-putter? Probably not. Why not stick with the Tribex, Methoxy and maybe some Myostat? They’ll give you plenty of bang for your buck, and there won’t be any “maybe-medical” issues to worry about.

There’s been a lot of discussion about this issue on the forum. Try a search, and good luck.

Testosterone contributes to closing of growth plates. That is why late bloomers are generally taller with longer long bones.

World Class? F*ck yea World Class is what im gonna be. You can’t buy my motivation or my hard work or my focus in a pill! Secondly, I’m not basing this on a movie at all. I gave the scene as an example of how we focus on living so long, when truly quality totally outweighs quantity in regards to anything and you can’t deny that, none of you can! Thirdly, when I plateau I know I’ve hit a plateau. You know that when you plateau on any new regimen within two weeks of it, your having a little trouble. Fourthly, although I can not recall who wrote it, that information about late bloomers was very interesting and gives me great hope im very optimistic, im about 5’9 or 10, I’ve grown about 3 inches in the past 9 months, and only in about the past year have really hit puberty full force, so hopefully I’ll go further. Oh yea and another thing guys, don’t try to insult me, your all just another anonymous person on this great internet, simply answer my question and keep it simple your just wasting your time. It’d also be nice if we could have someone from Biotest legitimately answer this question that guys like me and RYAN often think about.

Nolan, your question was answered but you did not like the answer so you get huffy about it. I suggest you email or call Biotest (1 800 525 1940) directly. If they don’t give you the answer you want to hear, try some of the more hardcore steroid sites. Somebody there will tell you to go for it. Good luck with the shot.

Nolan- Please read the “Bodybuilder’s Hierarchy of Needs” article at T-mag by Chris Shugart. Just use the search engine over there. And trust us, you are not peaked out at 18.

Here’s my $.02. I’m 19 and have only been into the game for about 3 years. It was, however, this past year and a half that I learned so much upon stumbling across this site. Since then my progress has been continuous. Sure, like you guys who are my age, I have gotten stuck in a rut and thought about taking the easy way out. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought about taking Mag-10 just for the fact that I claim all these great things that I hear about from this site and sell it to people at my workplace. Well, not only at the discretion of the posters of this forum, but a co-worker really inspired me to get everything else in shape (diet, training, recovery, etc.) before moving on to these powerful supplements. I mean, he has been training for over 10 years, and for the time being will not even use creatine (just protein powders, multi-vitamin, and essential fatty acids) all because he really wants to prove to himself and about 90% of our bodybuilding customers (most of whom are relatively young - our age) that it’s possible to meet your goals without going all out on a pro-steroid or steroid cycle. I have to admit, I did cheat a little by using Tribex, and I can honestly say that if you are using it how much more better does it really have to get?? Tribex, in it’s own is a great product! I don’t know about you, but without it, my strength has dropped a bit. This, unfortunately, has led me to believe that Tribex has become a crutch for me to make progress: and that should definitely be far from the truth! It is in these time where I would ask myself what my co-worker would do, and what he would say if put in a similar situation as me (sort of like a “what would T-man do” type of thing). I only wish I knew more people like him. Hell, I wish there were more people like him in general in this world to set the example for people to follow. In short, I think the most powerful supplement in the world is motivation - the drive to make the best of what you’ve got and take it to the limits. Seriously, change your training routines, change your diet around - it really does work! I’m a testament to that. And sorry to say, you really don’t know everything there is to know - even I can bet that in my own case, 20 years from now I still won’t know everything about this. So, good luck and enjoy the rest of the journey we call life.

Oh, I also forgot to mention this saying - same philosophy that the Chinese people have preached for some many years, and that my parents have tried enforcing for just as long. Basically it goes as “Keep an open mind towards those that have come before you: that way you won’t have to reinvent the wheel.” Or something to that effect…

good post. I’m 18. I feel im far from hitting the wall, especially because i continue to make substantial progress as i learn more about training and diet. This last post has me thinking about maybe even dropping creatine in my next cycle, and using strickly whey protien powder, and vitimins.

Good for you for listening to reason. At your age sometimes you level off for a while because you body is growing. It takes a lot on energy and materials to grow a human body. There is more to growing a body than bones and muscles.
Best of Luck.

Nolan, no one insulted you. Chill out, okay?

If you want to know what Biotest’s people have to say on this issue, you could always do a search. This isn’t the first time this issue has come up. But if you don’t feel like it, here’s what Bill Roberts had to say on another thread a while back that sounded very much like this one (“The Age Factor” - look it up):

[Begin Bill Roberts’ quote]: "I also agree with char-dawg. The earlier-than-26 ages I gave [for using androgens] were under the assumption that the individual is perfectly willing to limit his bone size to what it is already, if he is planning on using aromatizing steroids. (If he is planning on using non-aromatizing steroids or using Arimidex, and monitors blood estrogen levels and keeps them normal, then estrogen-accelerated closing of the epiphyseal plates is not an issue. Clomid BTW is not certain to block that process so is not recommended as a solution. It may act itself as an estrogen in that regard, rather than an anti-estrogen.) It’s also certainly true that no natural trainer gets close to his natural potential let alone reaches it by age 19. You could not find one 30-40 year old successful natural trainer who will tell you that he is not a lot more muscular than at age 19, even if he started training at age 12 or so. The difference will be quite considerable. No 19-year old should assume he can’t get far past where he already is with natural training. That would be quite false. " [End Bill Roberts’ quote]

So there you have it.

Also, just as a side point, can someone please explain to me how it is that smoking cigarettes makes one’s life more “interesting”? Just to clear that up for me…

Maybe it’s just me…and I’m full of shit, but I can’t imagine being 18, 19, or 20 and being stuck! Even if you’ve been training for 4 or 5 years you should still be growing like crazy…if you EAT right (lot’s.)

im 18 and i feel far from stuck…thers are soe many training principals and diets i’ve yet to try. I just wanted to know around what age i should start using products like mag-10 and others. anotherthing i have some tribulus laying around, mass quantities brand, they sent it to me for free…shuld i take it?

Ryan, your bones don’t stop growing until you’re about 26. So that should be your mark. (That’s assuming that you continue to train consistently and correctly until that time.)
