Anyone have this issue? I have a history of thyroid issues and take hormone replacement which may be one factor. I have somewhat prominent swelling in the nodes anterior to the masseter muscle, in the cheek area and proximity of the corners of the mouth. Under bright lighting, the bloated areas bulge out like hamster’s pouches.
This is costing me a lot of confidence and I’m afraid to eat enough for maintenance, much less for muscle gain when I feel that any carb saturation will make me look increasingly bloated and fat despite not being that way.
I’m damage controlling by trying to drink more water than I would normally really need as well as occasionally pop some minerals that are supposed to help with excess fluid to compensate for the situation. Other than that and starving myself just to look OK I’m not sure what to do.
I’ve heard of there being anti-bacterial (as the condition is supposed to relate to infection) ointments that could help. I’m typing this at night so I can’t go to drugstore to ask but probably will eventually.
I developed some bad acne from steroid usage a few months ago. Around the same time as the acne flare up one lymph node on my neck swelled up, became firm. I’ve since been on antibiotics and the acne has gotten much better. I’ve also been off AAS while on the anti biotics. The swollen lymph node has also shrunk.
I was actually going to have it removed but it started to shrink a lot between the time I set up an appointment for surgery and the day of the operation, so I decided to give it more time before removal for biopsy. Interesting enough the acne only got bad while using a SERM (a type of drug that mimics estrogen in certain tissue and blocks estrogen in other). The lymph node would swell and get harder while using the SERM. I definitely think there was a direct relationship between the acne inflamation and the inflamatory response of the node. My doctor agrees with me on that.
Have you seen a doctor specifically about the node?
A dude I work with thought he was developing a hernia…it wasan’t a hernie. He has non-hodgkins lymphoma…a form of cancer that is 95% treatable. Like the other guy chimed in…don’t fuck around, see a doctor.
Not to go against the other guys who said go see a doctor, but a lot of time the puffiness in the face is a cause of food allergies. That’s how it was with me. I had the exact same symptoms–hard swallowing(not sure if this was a swollen lymph node), puffy face esp. around the corners of the mouth–and it was because I was routinely eating foods I was allergic too.
I stopped eating foods I was allergic too(i.e. no grains or dairy) and the puffiness went away–and I began seeing better physique gains for some reason.
There’s another guy on here who has food allergies, I talked to him awhile ago. If you’re reading this thread bro, respond and let me know if the puffy face was also part of your allergies.
