Hurt my lower back playing rugby (front row) ten days ago, just felt like a minor tweak, but then front squatting a couple days later it just suddenly tightened up, and now just sitting down or tying my shoes takes work. The tightness/low level pain is really far down, just above my glutes and a little to the right I think. Haven’t done any lower-body work or spinal loading since then, and am just trying to get back on the rugby field as soon as possible, big point in the season for my club team.
I got a sports massage Thursday, helped a little, maybe, but no big difference. Icing doesn’t seem to do much. Should I see a chiropractor or an osteopath? Which one? Thanks for any help.
Go to the gym, sit down on those awesome hip adduction and abduction machines and bang out some reps. It shouldn’t hurt, if it does, stop.
I spent 4 months bouncing between osteopaths and physical therapists who couldn’t figure out why my lower back one day up and started having localized pain. Then one day as I am seeing a new guy he comments my hip adduction and abduction strength is weak during the initial consultation, has nothing new to add and writes me up for an MRI.
Long story short, I went to the gym, did 2 days of moderate adduction/abduction work and the pain was gone before the appointment for the MRI rolled around.
So, give it a shot, it might help you out. It might not.
