A doctor recently told me that low dhea is the reason for (my) graying hair (at an early age) and that raising the levels can restore the color (back to black). Is that true? I can’t find any info on the subject.

I’ve never heard of that before. Why don’t you go to Pubmed and do a search?
Yesterday I’m sitting at Pizza Hut waiting for the food to arrive, and my daughter wanted to play “I Spy” to pass the time. My wife started with “I spy something white,” and after my daughter guessed the napkins, a sign, and my wife’s coat, her next guess was “Daddy’s Hair.”
I was not amused.
