any surefire tips for losing this visceral fat in a decent amount of time? should I do an hour of cardio or more intense less time on cardio? Any other suggestions?
has anyone heard of the vacuum exercise for abs? does it work?
You can’t remove fat off one part of the body. If you could everyone would have a six pack.
Heres your advice.
Diet and exercise.

You diet, and fat cells get smaller all over your body. There is no such thing as spot reduction.
Try the V-Diet i guess.
Maybe do an article search and find different diets which pertain to fat loss.
I could be wrong but I was always under the impression that if you were to lose fat, both types of fat would be reduced.
I think from the answers that you received here, you would find a more diffinitive answer searching through past articles.
What makes you think that your problem is visceral fat? Looks to me like you’re storing fat pretty evenly, not just in your “pot belly”.
You do have a very similar body to what Gus had before he did the V-Diet, clearly have a lot of muscle under all that fat.
Maybe you should look up his program, there’s a link to it in the V-Diet forum.
Good luck.

from what I read my stomach has a lot of muscle still but it protrudes out rather far. this is allegedly visceral fat around the organs and very dangerous. is there a possibility my situation is not this serious?

A beer gut and a young girlfriend? There are worse things in life. Looks like she could use some sunscreen…
Seriously, you look like every guy I knew in college. The only way you’re going to lose the gut is by dieting and high intensity training.
Fixing your diet should be a top priority. If you are strict, you sould start shedding pounds within the first 2-3 weeks.
It workied for me in the past.

This is the link to Gus’s Physique Clinic where he used the V-Diet and 3 weekly full body workouts:
Probably just a swollen stomach from eating too many sugars and too many hefty meals + subcutaneous overlay.
Go on the diet and see great gains.

Figure out what your maintenance calories are by recording your calorie intake for a couple of days and cut those by 500. If you’re not losing weight after 10 days, cut by another 500. Forget the cardio and just continue to lift weights. You’ll get progressively leaner.
