Hey all, i’ve finished the recommended rehab after surgery for a dislocated knee 6 months ago (playing soccer). I was about 5 months into getting a gym membership and was noticing gains in terms of muscle mass. However, throughout rehab I was limited to swimming and bodyweight exercises, causing a most of my gains to fade. I’m 5’9 and weigh 149lbs, with body fat percentage at 16%.
I’d like to bulk up but also be relatively lean, although I’ve read that it can’t be done at the same time. So my question is, should I begin focusing on weight training again or continue swimming and achieve a lower bf% before I bulk?
At 149lbs, I would not worry the slightest about cutting or your bodyfat percentage. Eat clean and train like a freak. You can definitely put on size and become ripped at the same time.
Thanks mate, the article was pretty useful. I’ll look around for some good sample diets, I know I’ve seen a few around this site and others like it. Any other advice is welcome too, thanks again.
Read the ‘Are you a beginner’ Thread at the top of this forum, you’ll find lots of good links to weights progs and diet articles.
No harm in also doing some swimming on your off days, for a little active recovery. Easy yourself back in slowly with the weights and build up the amount of work you do with your knee.
