A +4 rep PR in one cycle. Just awesome. I need some of that.

As well you should be!
My plan was to take it easy and go for a solid 5 reps but things felt good. Next week is my “get at least 1 rep” day. Since I’ll be using 385, I expect 7-8. Which seems high.
I’m trying to figure out the optimal number of reps for my go for broke day. I’m thinking it should be in the 3-5 range. If so, I probably need to raise my estimated max from 445 to 475 or so.
Or you could hit 5 reps, up the weight and pull a heavy single after the money set.

An interesting idea. I haven’t done singles in a few months now. I’ll noodle that around a bit.
nice deads PR Git. the stimulant thing is no good for me either. I’m wired for 45 minutes and then I crash like crazy.
Cycle 3, week 2
Bench 3s
Warmed up shoulder with DBs. Talked to hot lady in lovely light blue yoga pants.
Dudes were hanging out on the bench doing combo press / spotter rows. So first did
EZ Bar Curls
bar + 50 x 3
- 60 x 3
- 70 x 3
- 80 x 3
- 90 x 3
- 95 x 3
- 100 x 3
- 70 x 11
Bench - my nemesis
135 x 3
155 x 3
190 x 6…PR - 185 x 6 last cycle
185 x 3,3,3
135 x 13
Still working on tightness and groove. Can’t wait until I’m at least repping 225 so I have a little self-respect. Shoulder feels good, 8/10.
Dips BW
14, 8, 5, 7, 7, talked to friend for 5 minutes then 13. Total 54.
Impatient so rest periods are probably too short.

Why thank you SD. Now what would be your choice if you were to have a wee dram? Dalwhinnie or something else?

well, it’s been a while since I’ve had a taste but I fondly remember Glen Morangie, Laphroaig,
Aberlour, Knockando and some others
in fact I don’t think I ever tasted a single malt that I wouldn’t have again.
damn - now you got me thinking about it and I’ll have to go find a good bottle this weekend.

I’m with you…I think it is the differences in single malts that make them so interesting to drink. Plus they are damn tasty. I might have to get a new bottle myself this weekend!

Laphroaig gets thumbs up. I can still smell it though I haven’t had any for 20+ years.
If you like something peaty with some character that won’t totally break the bank, try a spot of Lagavulin.

Some blended Irish Whiskey’s also get a bad rap merely because they are blended. Tough to beat a Midleton’s rare or a Jameson 18, however.

Hey thanks guys. Coincidentally, Laphroaig and Lagavulin are among my very favorites. Great minds and all that. Highland Park, Macallan, Talisker are high on my list. There are so many good ones. I’d like to try an Ardbeg since the critics love it so much.
I’ve never had Middleton’s. I’ll give that a go.
Whisky It’s kind of like pizza or sex. Even if it’s not great it is still pretty damn good.
Ugg you guys and your Scottish lighter fluid.
Patron all the way.

I’ve never tried Patron. How do you drink it? Are there little umbrellas involved?
Glenfiddich is my current bottle. But I’m quite open to trying new single malts. Too bad I don’t actually drink booze that often.
One shot of that shit and I’d be under the table. Let’s just say I’m a lightweight.

OK, so don’t take this the wrong way but Glenfiddich is one of my least favorite single malt.
I find it too light and dry with a pine taste.
Lagavulin has a BIG peaty taste that some need to ease into. But it is killer.
Something like Balvenie 10 yr or 12 yr Double Wood is an awesome drink and has a sweeter balance. I would probably start there.
bah humbug.
if it’s not wine, it’s not worth drinking…teasin.
Git: the husband just bought a Balvenie 12 yrs. not a Great Scotch but a Good one to sip on once in a while.
Myself I love to smell them but the heat just doesn’t do it for me.
I’ll go for a good Cognac once in a while though.
