So I’m going to make a log so PowerGnP can have an easier time keeping up on my life, and because I some how manage to destroy training books with the greatest of ease.
I’m an 82.5kg Powerlifter, compete in the IPF, trying my hand at Weightlifting at the moment with a tenative competition for Jan 30th. The numbers will be pathetic I’m sure, planning to compete at 77kg. I’ll be competing at CPU (Canadian IPF affiliate) Nationals in April, so there will be a mix of weightlifting and powerlifting.

Practicing dropping under the bar, the “coach” thats helping me said it would be a good idea to work on these from the high hang for awhile and progress down to the floor. I know nothing, so I nod and do as told

Good day, snatches felt a lot more solid, Next day is my first real clean day, I think I’m going from the high hang, or hang from knee’s, I guess I’ll find out when I get there

I saw some of your lifting at the 2008 Nationals in St. Catherines, you did well if I recall.
Why the switch to weightlifting? [/quote]
It’s just a temporary thing, Powerlifting was starting to become a monotonus chore. Theres a weightlifting competition a few blocks from where I live on Jan 30th, so I thought I would give it a try. I’m still squatting, deadlifting and benching.
After the competition I’ll focus on plifting full time for Nationals in April
Pretty good day, the snatches were basically power snatches, even the 80kg I barely had to dip. Doesn’t mean I didn’t try to get under them. The Power Cleans were good, I can probably go a bit heavier as they were very easy. Kept squats fairly light, I’m planning to do 2 back squat days with a front mixed in on wednesday, so I’ll keep Monday’s moderate, and go heavy on Fridays.
Fat bar bench was really good, I think I’ll keep that in one day a week
Well I decided I’m going to lift at CPU Nationals this year, so the weightlifting is getting put on the backburner for now. I’ve got 13 weeks to train for Nationals. Started today. Doing 3 4 week blocks, first will be all raw, second incorporating some wraps, loose suit bottoms, and final 4 weeks will be a full gear peak, with one rest week.
Sheiko #37 is the first 4 week block, I always had good results from Sheiko in the past, it’s basically how I got “strong” in the first place, so I figured why not try it again. I’m going to start with the #37 program, then move into the CMS/MS prep for the following 4 weeks for an increase in volume, then taper back for a lower volume/higher intensity peak. I’ll be using slightly reduced maxes for the first 4 weeks to get back into the swing of things

First time ever squatting high bar with anything over 200kg and with a suit. It was definitely awkward, but it has potential so I’ll stick with it and see how it goes.
Bench and raw squats were easy as they should be
