I finally pulled 400lb yesterday morning. Seems like everyone has been hitting this lift lately but I’m posting anyway.
It was only a 5lb PR but it’s the first of my long term goals that I’ve reached. When I started I was doing sets of 185lb deads…lol.
300lb bench is very close but I’ve been stuck @ 290 for a while. I’ve adjusted my plan and should get there soon. Once I’ve accomplished that I’ll be focusing on squating 350.
Once I’ve reached 300/350/400 I’ll be attacking new goals. I’ve pretty much decided on 365 bench/455x5 dead/and 405x5 squat.
Please share the goals you’ve reached and new goals you’ve set. It helps to know what others are accomplishing.
Congrats Wilba! Feels good to hit something over 400 huh?
My bench sux, I’ll be working hard on that this Winter to get back to where I was before biceps tear(275). Looking for 400 squat, and opening with my new 407 PR on dead at my next meet.
congratulations on reaching goals guys!
I just pulled a PR 455 DL this afternoon.
bench took a hit when I strained tendons arm-wrestling but coming back fast - already 275 (1RM) last bench day.
SQ is suffering - no real squat rack - just a smith machine… 400lb on the smith (20lb bar weight) should be somewhere close to 315 free standing based on previous experience.
anyway, by the end of 2008 I want:
SQ 400
BP 325
DL 485
Hit my first 600lb squat (272.5kg) late last July. It happened a lot sooner than I was expecting. Next landmark goal is 300kg (660lb), all going to plan it’ll happen early next year perhaps and then onto 310-320kg (685-705lb) by the end of the year at my last world champs as a junior in Vegas in '09.
The immediate goal’s 285kg (630lb) at my next meet in November.
Hit my first 180kg (400lb) bench in comp this year in January. Followed it up with 190kg (420lb) in July. If everything goes perfectly, 200kg (440lb) will go in November. That would be a MASSIVE achievement. As for next year… who knows. 220kg (485lb) maybe?
Deadlifts… my downfall. Still haven’t pulled a PR since November '07 where I did 250kg (550lb), tho I did do 260kg (575lb) in the gym last May. My deadlift training’s been pretty rubbish for the latter half of the year due to an injury, so I’d be happy with a modest PR this time out.
260kg would be more than enough. My first 600lb pull should happen early next year, and then maybe onto 280-285kg (615-630lb) later in the year. The day I pull 300kg I’ll be a happy man. It’s probably gonna take a loooong time to get there, but I know it’ll come.
Right now the most important goal for me is to break the IDFPA junior 100kg (220lb) total record. It’s 750kg (1655lb) at the moment, and I’m gunning for 752.5kg (1670lb) next March/April, hopefully in the form of 290/202.5/260. It’s stood since 1998, so to break it would be amazing.
Next year’s my last year as a junior lifter so I’d like to put up a really big total. Maybe move up to 110kg/242lb and go for the big 800kg (1765lb). All the numbers listed are in single ply gear and drug free.
Ultimately, who knows… maybe 375/272.5/320 at 110??
Next Feb compete in first meet. WDFPF aiming to hit an easy 600 squat, then at nats next year go for the 700. Once I can hit the 700 single ply, I might move to a multi ply fed and spend a few years learning how to use the stronger gear.

Should I be watching my back…? What weight are you planning to hit that at? and what are your other lifts like…?

I think you’ll be fine
I’m just out of juniors anyway, just haven’t competed due to other sports.
Aiming to do it at 90kg/ 198lbs. Dead is good, but bench is not even worth mentioning. Unless I was an 8 year old girl.
Squat: broke 550 lbs (551, 250 kg, lol)
Bench: hit 140 kg (308 lbs)raw
Deadlift: broke my old pr (210kg), hit 212.5 kg (468 lbs)
@ 190 lbs in low end or no gear
Short - Long term goals:
Squat: triple body weight squat, then 275 kg (606 lbs)
Bench: 165 kg (363 lbs) raw
Deadlift: 230 kg (break 500 basically)
Long term goals:
Squat: 700+ @ 198 or 220
Bench: 500+
Deadlift: 600+
