Do whatever works for you.
This is a crock of shit and a lazy therapist.
How do you act around your friends?
How do you act around your parents?
How do you act around your boss?
Probably differently, i imagine.
So is it your personality, or how you choose to act?
Your therapist was right, though. No medication will fix it, you just have to change how you act.
If you wanted to be a different person, you could.
Consider how Castoli would answer those questions.
He is a troll who enjoys getting a response from people. The real question is for those who cannot help but engage in the same arguments with him. They cannot ignore him.
What were you diagnosed with?
Idk if thats a fair comparison. Castoli chooses to be annoying retard. Id like to think that OP just hasnāt had someone break down what can be learned from Don Draper and Tyler Durden.
I donāt know. Castoli didnāt get to become the angry, unemployable recluse that he is for his vast social skills.
Does he have any friends?
Boss? Really?
Troll is just too broad of a descriptive for Castoli.
If there is something actually wrong with him, beyond that which he chooses, then poking fun at him is a bit low of us.
My belief is that he chooses to act like he does.
Do I believe Castoli has a real social disability? Most definitely. He approaches his disability with outrage and defiance.
OP is very different in that he is asking help to cope with his social disability.
If you are willing to ask OP to answer those questions, it would make sense to also ask Castoli. Both are struggling with social disabilities.
I donāt know how to help the OP, but I feel empathy for his plight.
I like accurate terms.
Both OP and castoli have social disorders, but these are things that are simply out of order⦠meaning they can be fixed.
I believe OP can be fixed, if he wants to be.
I donāt have the same belief for castoli. I genuinely believe he is mentally handicapped.
People these days like to use terms like āhigh functioning autismā as an excuse to not be socially aware. Yet, a surprising number of these individuals are able to overcome this, and effectively work themselves out of the spectrum of autism disorders.
This would not be possible if it were a handicap or disability. These people really just need to work on the things theyre bad at, and instead they often double down on what theyre good at (mistakenly hoping it will make up for their shortcomings).
Anyways, weāve derailed OPs thread a good bit. Iām either scenario, OP needs to put in the work if he wants to be socially adept. Castoli could probably do the same, though i think heāll just end up being a socially adept retard at most.
IMO, It isnāt that it is things they are ābad atā, it is things they greatly fear.
Autism is over diagnosed. Something like 1 in 36 kids is diagnosed with it. 1 in 5 is diagnosed with some form of mental or emotional disorder.
Right, its a personality disorder.
āDisorderā to mean > 3 standard deviations from mean population.
This should be less than 5% of people.
A Z-score of 2 (2 standard deviations from the mean) is right tail of 2.275%
A Z-score of 3 is right tail of 0.135%
95.45% of the population of a normal distribution is within + or - 2 standard deviations of the mean (not to include either tail)
