Living Longer

most important keys to long life
Family and friends- A strong social circle has shown to drastically increase life expectancy, make great friends and KEEP them.

Daily physical activity no matter your age. We tend to want to baby the elderly and let them “rest” while we do everything for them.Even light physical activity is a good idea and should be done every day. Countries with the highest life expectancy let the elderly do what they want. There are companies where every worker is 70+.

Places which have the highest life expectancy respect the elderly and want their input. The united states for example sees the elderly as useless.

I wish to live long enough and be in good enough health so I will be described as “spry”

Also, one more comment… As fucked up as it is to say this, this line of thought has me reconsidering lifting, or at least reconsidering HOW I lift. I’m 22, and I’m already accumulating some pains and injuries from my favorite hobby. I love having a great body, and I love being able to eat a lot, but most of all, I just love lifting and sports in general. But if working myself hard means that I’m gonna be a wreck by 40-45, maybe I should do something else that I can enjoy for the rest of my life?

I don’t know if I really feel this way, but I’m definitely exploring that line of thought. Saying “no” to lifting would be incredibly difficult, but being injury-ridden, or wearing out my heart/joints/whatever before my time would be even worse. As an alternative, I’m just thinking of changing HOW I workout; giving up HIIT, and making my workouts less CNS-intensive, and working my muscles hard while placing less stress on my system. Meh, who knows.[/quote]

dude, relax your over thinking shit.

My Grandma on my Mom’s side is 97 and my Great Grandma on my Dad’s side lived to be 102. Both my Grandfathers died in their LATE 80’s (and they abused the shit out of their bodies with alcohol and lack of exercise) All of my Great Aunts are in their 70’s to 90’s and are all very active (My Aunt Sue climbed to 18000 feet on Everest at age 72, 20 years ago - she’s hiking in New Zealand right now). My Dad is 63 and is almost as strong as I am to this day (the man was built like a tank). My Mom is 67 and looks like she’s 45 (and acts like she’s 25!).

Good genetics - you can’t buy them.

So I figure I’m gonna die at the ripe old age of 95 at the hands of a jealous husband. (that’s the plan)

LOL

^ plan will only work if gay marriage is legalized.

^ Want’s to be the “husband” NOT doing the shooting

There are some people here (you, CainMarko, Andrew, print, sometimes beans and the rest of my Man Above brothers) that I just can’t help myself but to think of an insult whenever I even see the avatar - It’s like a fucking Pavlovian response! I see it is the same with you! LOL

^ leave me out like

Get married.

married men live longer.

or it just feels longer.

sorry Polo. Just the truth man.

fucking deal with it.

^^^ Glad I can inspire.

^^ Grow a pair will ya!

so you were fapping?

Psshhhttt… What… NOO!!! Why would I be… You’re dumb… I have a girl friend… I don’t need to… I mean…

Dammit!!! OKAY! I was fapping a little.

Sorry to interrupt the Kerley/Andrew partner-jerk… (Not enough for a circle)

Aside from Resveratrol (or Rapamycin) and Caloric restriction; Epidemiologically, fish consumption and green tea consumption have been correlated with longevity.

It is causative? Possibly. Will it harm you to include these two? Not at all, go for it and hope for the best.

Also, aside from Asiatic cultures, Mediterranean cultures have been correlated with longevity (when compared to other European cultures), could it be the resveratrol content of the wine? Possibly olive oil? (oleic acid or general monounsaturatated FA consumption)

I think that including green tea, fish oil, and olive oil (In addition to the general ‘healthy’ diet, which is debatable, but veggies haven’t been called evil, yet) and possibly adding in a Sirtuin-gene activating thingy (Rez-V, Rapamycin if that shit ever becomes economically feasible; the studies are looking too good) should suffice.

Along with the basic advice of don’t smoke, wear your seatbelt, don’t stress out, and laugh a little.

How rude! Thanks a lot asshole. The partner jerk Kerley and I were participating in was far more important then the OP’s pursuit of a long healthy life. I mean c’mon!!!

Stop worrying about it, stress 'll kill ya.

Having a reason to wake up…a sense of purpose…counts for a lot when it comes to longevity.

“Retiring” as we know it is pretty much the worst thing you can do to your life expectancy. Continue to work and function in a meaningful capacity, just not as hard. Part of the reason those nutty Okinawans live to be 900 years old is because they always have a (light) job to wake up to.
