@mortdk- thanks for the advice. Given I am spending my day cleaning (therefore moving my body) I think I am gonna rest tomorrow and sunday (if being on your feet for 12 hours counts as “rest”, and get back into cycle 2 on monday!!!
So, I slept really poorly last night. Felt tired going in.
Felt unmotivated when I saw the numbers I was lifting. It felt like I was going backwards from last cycle.
Woke with hip and knee pain. I wear orthodics for a bunion I have on right foot. I walk 10’000+ steps during a normal work day. The orthodics change my gait however, and they obviously irritated my hip and knee on left side.
So, not feeling so hot going in.
But, I ran into a girl I work with, who is competing in her first powerlifting comp in June. She has some great lifts, and is very motivating (though I admit, a little part of me is jealous) Anyhow we chatted, she is gonna help me with my benching. She motivated me to suck it up and get er done, simply for the fact it was her light day…and her lifts on light day are better then some of my maxes!!
20 minute dog walk- First day of spring? Bloody lie!!!
Forcing myself to rest today. Foot/hip/knee still sore, especially after dog walking. I will be on my feet 12 hours tomorrow so I should try to rest while I can.
I do not like cooking. I can cook. Put some effort into this Guiness Beef stew and barley last night…yummy!
Today is my daughters 18th birthday! Where does the time go? She is a great kid, uh, young adult now. She has applied to university, and just waiting to see where she gets in. She is kind, respectful and driven. She has 2 part time jobs, and works hard in everything she does. I am not sure how much of a kids development is nature vs nurture, but it has been easy to nuture her nature.
Yesterday at work I had to do a 1:1 with a patient who was sent to ICU. It was hard for me, bringing back some memories of my daughter.
I better get a good workout in later. The birthday girl has chosen chinese food and carrot cake for her birthday dinner…some extra calories ahead! Workout later!!
My younger sister is a nurse (she’s always been the “fixer” in the family), I never really had an appreciation for the hours, mental toughness, and pure grittiness that it takes to be a nurse a lot of times, so…yeah, hell of a job.
Nursing can be difficult for sure! I think I have gotten to the point in my career where I know I can’t fix everything (and in mental health and hospice nursing that is especially true)… I prefer to see it as caring, supporting, encouraging and advocating. A good nurse can do a lot, and really make an impact in different ways. That can also be said of a bad nurse as well, sadly.
I fell in love with every nurse I had when I was in the hospital after having my son . Coulda been the drugs though haha… but seriously they were all amazing. You’re good people
Nurses are just awesome.
When I was in hospital after a surgery years ago, those nurses ran around trying to get to do everything in half the time. But still they had time to speak and give a smile and a high five. They made my day more than once.
Marvelous breed of the human race.
You may think people are looking at you, and therefore impressed by your three plate deadlift. We are not. Your incredibly shitty form combined with your aggressive need to bounce every deadlift off the ground is excessively douchy, loud, and annoying the fuck out of everyone at the gym. Please take your half assed form, and disturbing slamming of the weights somewhere else.
Thank you, fuck you, and have a shitty day.
Littlelee
That was a wonderful story about your dad, and about your experiences with hospice. Just beautiful. Thank you.
I see them!! Nice delt and bi there, lady!
WHOOT!!! So much fun. I’m training with a very talented newbie PLer right now, and she’s surpassed me with her Squat and DL already. It’s super exciting. She’s only 23, and has been lifting for about 7 or 8 months. Sooo much fun to have a friend, or friends to train with.
Happy birthday to your daughter as well! I know there were a few years around that age where my sister put my parents through hell and back, so I’m glad your daughter has been easy to nurture!
@jamie1888- You are right, they are always our babies! Thanks! @anon71262119- thank you. I am glad you liked my dad story, I share it often! Having friends to lift with is good, though I do like being a lone wolf at the gym! Do you have a journal btw? @littlesleeper- thanks! I have a lot of aries peeps in my life. My hubbies b-day is on Sunday! I am very glad neithier of my girls have been overally pain in the assy!
